lol...tactical edition. For all those late-night 7-eleven raids and assaults on the local shopping malls
"Kids! Listen up! Here's the sitrep - 3 Nintendo Wiis, placed strategically at the guest services desk, doors to the store open at o-dark 30! This hummer won't be able to stay in the fire lane for more than 45 seconds before Charlie in the mall security jeep gets here. That means go-time in 5 minutes, 30 seconds to package pickup and checkout! Johnny! Kimmy! Timmy! If you little maggots want your Christmas presents this year you'll have to earn them! Lights out in 30 seconds....Doors open...move out! Move out! Move out!"
nice car though!!

NICE JEEP!!!
Just a bit of info for you guys. Hummers are really jeeps.
AMC American motors corporation spun off a military version of the company as a subsidiary called AM general (American Motors General) .....which distributed the Hummer. American motors developed, engineered, and built the original hummers for military use. Many of the parts are interchangeable with Jeeps, even to this day. Also Look at the 7 slot grill on the hummer.........now look at the Jeeps grill......also 7 slots. They're brothers!
So whenever you see a hummer be sure to say nice JEEP!

Re: Added another vehicle to my garage, Hummer!!!
psuperti - That's a nice H3.
antonio311 - Nope. The H1 was ground up new. There is nothing Jeep about it. The military didn't want a Jeep.
Here's a brief comparision of the CJ-series Jeeps and the Hummer H1
Jeep - Live Axles | Hummer - 4-wheel independent suspension with portal axles
Jeep - capacity - 400lbs | Hummer - 3500lbs
Jeep - weight ~ 3500lbs | Hummer - 10,000 lbs
Jeep - drivetrain - 4WD with limited slip and later special package air-activated f&r lockers | Hummer - 4WD with traction control (advanced)
Jeep - gasoline powered | Hummer - diesel powered
The H1 is a Jeep on Steroids, but is a totally different vehicle. The H2 and H3 are only related to the H1 in name and vaguely in looks. They are definitely not Jeeps. They're both based on civilian light truck chassis and running gear. I think the fuel is the only interchangeable part I know of...
I laugh every time I see an H2 or H3 with the chrome plastic "chopper lift rings" stuck on the hood with 3M trim tape.
The car shown in the thread is nice, but it's not in any meaningful way related to the H1 and it most definitely is NOT a Jeep...
These are (my) Jeeps (with my Crossfire):
More
I'll take the Commander Overland (shown) over an H3 - mine has with electronically activated front and rear limited slip diffs, true low-range, factory skid plate and tow packages, and a sweet Hemi...
The Wrangler shown is locked front and rear with custom Dana 44, disc brakes all around, heavy-duty suspension to accomodate cargo and armor weight. WARN 9.5ti winch, custom front and rear bumpers with tow points. 4.56 gears with oversized axles and u-joints, on-board air, etc. (Full specs here.)
I have never seen an H2 or H3 on the trail.

It's funny - we don't think of ourselves as a Chrysler "family" - the Wrangler was purchased first to replace - gasp - a Jaguar XJ-6.
I had a ****** back in the '70's and buying the Wrangler was a way to regain that experience.
It more than succeeded.
We had a Cherokee to act as a "winter car" for my wife whose Volvo V90 (RWD luxo-wagon) didn't work for her on the slippery hills.
This worked well but she wanted the Commander so after a year of saving we got it, and kept the Cherokee (it was a 1998 LTD). So for a while we were a three Jeep family.
The Crossfire had been sitting at the dealer for a LONG time and gradually was getting cheaper and cheaper. Finally I couldn't stand it anymore and traded the Cherokee in and purchased it.
To this day, although I love the Crossfire, I regret trading the Cherokee. That vehicle was awesome. I will probably end up getting another one - the last generation Classic. It's just right for local, foul-weather beating around.
So we just happened into this grouping of vehicles. I suppose the Lockheed Martin / Chrysler discount program (1% over invoice) didn't hurt when it came time to get the Commander. I had been waiting for the Jeep Rescue to come out but it reality that vehicle turned out to the be the next generation Wranglers with 4 doors. That may be next in lieu of the used Cherokee.
We'll see...
Re: Added another vehicle to my garage, Hummer!!!
I'm on my 3rd Wrangler, (2nd TJ) and
1. In all fairness I pulled out a H2 with the Rubi in the Pine Barrens in New Jersey
2. The new JK Wrangler are butt-frickin' ugly
3. Real Jeeps have 2 doors (and round headlights, but don't tell my YJ that!).
