Actually it has a faux-Hemi engine according to one of the mags I have read. Almost universally "booed" by the current 300M owners in my Club. Reminds me of a 1980's MB 240D with a Lark grill from the 60's. I predict that this "dog" will not hunt, even with the big engine, and especially not with the big price tag that will come with it. If you don't get the Hemi then the 3.5 Litre engine from the 300M will have to push it, not a real good prospect given its weight.

What are you talking about? The 300 will have the same Hemi engine found in the current Dodge Ram. What's "faux" about it? If you are referring to the shape of the cumbustion chamber, it' still dome shaped. It might not be as dramatic as the old 426, but it's still a hemi. That is why these are going to sell like hot cakes. The sedan more so than the touring edition, but they'll both be popular. Both look bad-*** and have almost 400 hp. How can they lose?

Oh, and by the way, I own a current 300M. Although I love the car, the design is now out-dated and boring. How on earth does your club boo this new design. This car should be able to compete with the new BMW 5 series and MB. I seriously doubt the old design was even in the same class.

Compete with the new 5 series? Maybe in performance until the new m5 comes out. The 300c is probably a better value than the 5 series, but I don't even know about that. I have seen the new 5 series in person, and I can honestly say I think it is the best looking production BMW I have EVER seen. Very attractive, and the interior and the NEW iDrive is awesome. If I had to chose between the two cars, it wouldn't even be a contest.

And also... do you really think DC would make a Chrysler that can compete with a Mercedes? The reason they let the Crossfire have the SLK platform was because they knew it would be completely redesigned within a year. DC is making a hell of a lot more profit on every Mercedes they sell than on every Chrysler they sell, so I doubt they would make a car that would be a direct competition between the two.

Don't get me wrong, MB and BMW make some quality cars. I didn't say the 300 would exceed them in quality. Just level the playing field. My point is the current model is completly out-classed by theses cars now. If DC is true to it's word, the new 300 will compete in quality and design. Not to mention... It's a MOPAR!

Just a thought, like the SRT version of the Crossfire I bet there is an SRT version of the 300 in the works to compete with the new M5. Don't kid yourself, when Deiter said that DCX is going on the attack with a product offensive he meant it. Just sit back and watch what is in the pipe line at Chrysler I think you will be amazed.

What would be really nice is the Chrysler 300 C hemi Convertible. I hope that it will be made someday as it sure is beautiful. I want to buy one but I can't wait forever. Has anyone heard any gossip lately about it?

The SRT version will be the Dodge Magnum, or the SRT 8. Both are due out in the Spring. I've driven the new 300C, and it is definetely a HUGE improvement over the current 300M. The fit and finish is awesome, and the hemi V8 really moves the car. The 300C also has a fantastic stability control system. Personally, I think the car will do well, but only time will tell. Take it easy everybody.

The 300C isn't a replacement for the 300M though, correct? There will be a replacement for the 300M, which will be called the 300N It will come out in 2006 I believe...

mightyjlr,
The new 300 series cars are going to replace the 300M. The 300C is the top of the line model, with the Hemi engine, stability control, and all the toys. The other models are the base 300 which is powered be the 2.7L V6 carried over from the current Concorde, and the 300 Touring, which has the same engine as the current 300M the 3.5L V6. As far as 300N...haven't heard anything from my end as of yet. But who knows, the Chrysler Group has quite a few new vehicles in the next year, the SRT10 truck, new Grand Cherokees, Dakotas, SRT 6, 300's, Dodge Magnum, SRT 8... It's hard to keep track of everything.

I just heard at chrysler tech training that the Hemi engine has mounting for a supercharger designed into it for future use!!!They usually think 4 years ahead when they design new engines and vehicles!

Anyone catch the 300C video on Speed Channel? Tommy Kendall and (?) DonahueMark's son hrowing a couple of C's around at Thunderhill. Great video of them sliding two of these 4000-pound cars thru the turns after they turned off the traction control. Not sure i buy the 5.3 second 0-60 times logged by C&D, but the C looks to be a winner.

I was in DC and Atlanta last week and I saw the new 300 in rental car lots in both cities. I saw a rental 300 at a hotel where I stayed.

Quite nice. 8)

I went to my dealer and they had four 300 models on the lot. Two 300C and two limited models. Three have already been sold! Good news for chrysler. Very nice car by the way. Huge trunk, great interior, great stance.

Hi, I just purchased a 300 C. Still waiting for it to be delivered, due in 5 weeks. Bought the black. Took one out for a 2 hour test drive. Very nice. Looking forward to the delivery.

I currently own a 540i 6spd with Dinan upgrades. BMW has approximately 307hp. However, the BMW is much faster on the hwy than the 300c. The 300c blows away my beamer in torque, absolutley no comparison.

But its time for something different. We'll see how it hold

congrats. I loved it when I saw it in my dealer show room. The salesman said he could do a slalom at a race track with his foot to the floor because of the advanced ESP system. I'm looking forward to test driving one. I'll also be in Houston in August for the Art of Driving. But I requested to drive the sports class instead of the 300C. Oh well my dealer will give me a test drive if they can keep any on the lot! I think they're going to have a Crossfire Convertible at the Art of Driving. Hopefully they will have a non-driving SRT to look at.

I was talking about the three different "classes" of cars available to drive at the Art of Driving. There is the Pacifica, the 300C, and what I call the sports class with the PT Convertible and crossfire among others. I wasn't referring to a 300 model.
