Default Audi-Wagen

Check this out. It's just an A4 Cabrio with different skin. I thought Audi might survive their "run in" with VW. I was wrong.

IMO... It looks like a teenie-bopper's ricer ride..... I can see it with the huge wicker bill spoiler on the back and fluorescent purple lights shining under it.

I don't know, WM. I think you are being a bit harsh on it.....

I don't think I would buy one, but depending on the price, it might be a fun little ragtop to drive around town.

And how long do you think it will be before someone decides to put the purple floro lighting under a Crossfire???? As much as I hate that thought, I am sure it will happen! :-(

I have no doubt it will happen also.

I'm sure the VW will sell just fine. But, I just looked at it again and too me it looks more oriental than european. The after market folks will have a blast with it and that's why I think the kids will buy it.

To me, it has European written all over it. The sloping hood, wider stance, lower slung. Basically a CLK Cabrio with a widened headlight lens and grill. Further, the side panels lack any "structural ornamentation," and thus has tons of flowing lines that are in stark contrast the sharp edges that dominate current japanese design. In short, I'm slapping my stamp of approval on it.

It looks like the A4 cabrio. No one commented on that :?: :?: I think Audi is gonna regret "letting" VW steal their car models.

VW also owns Porsche, which is why the Cayenne looks just like the Touareg

I know VW owns audi but I thought Audi might sneek by without letting VW take the Audi car design and just re-skinning it as a VW. I like Audi's originality, now VW has trashed it. Don't they also own Bugatti?

Yes, they do own Bugatti.

I think you're missing the point, though.

Default not so bad

It was during Chrysler's ownership of Lambo that the Diablo was developed. Not a bad thing.

AND the Viper engine has, at it's heart, a great deal of Lambo technology and design work. Again, a good thing.

It wasn't a total loss.

Cutting costs by sharing platforms is ... controversial.

Nissan uses the same platform for every one of their cars, from the 350z to the Xterra ... which isn't a good thing for either, except that it keeps costs down thanks to less development and research. But the 350z could benefit from a smaller lighter chassis, whereas the XTerra would really like a stiffer and stronger chassis.

I don't midn platform sharing but VW is coming out with Audis in different skin. No change whatsoever to the Audi A8 to make the Phaeton. Same thing with this concept and the A4 cabrio. The TT is at least different from the Golf.

wrong again, the phaeton is a totally different design than the a8, which makes absolutely no sense to me, but i guess someone at vag thought it was a good idea
