NAG1 tranny troubles in a 300

My wife said that the 300's transmission has been acting funny, I drove it yesterday and it went into limp mode immediately. Going to the dealer at less than 40mph is no fun, it's covered by warranty so we shall see what the problem is.
It is the same basic tranny as in the CF, the NAG1.

Wouldn't that be strange coincidence if it was the speed sensor/electrical valve plate after we helped Softball with his research. At leadst you have warranty.
Good luck.

Transmission fluid is low, most likely anyway. Stupid O rings! (what year?)

Good luck.

The mechanic muttered something about valves and seals, I'll wait until I see the work-order and report back.
There are no leaks to be seen so the chance of low oil is not suspected.
My wife worked there a few years back so I let the shop foreman, service manager and VP know I was in there for service. It may help for the shop floor know you are on a first name basis with their bosses.

I have a 2005 300C and it started shuttering in reverse and the shifts were .... strange so I took it in and it was the O ring leaking and low fluid. I never, ever saw a spot on the concrete.
The also flashed the software to the latest. I haven't heard of many failures except when approaching 450 HP at the wheels and then the clutches wear out. Good luck and being a 300 they should know how to work on it.

They did mention flashing the software as well.
I did add a post which had the site for the parts lists for 2002 to 2010 Chrysler cars, vans and trucks. My post does not seem to work though, but if you go to Rekah's post #17 you can save the files if you follow his instructions. You may be interested, I also dug up the 300 2005 Repair Manual.

Dave, it can be a leak internally, such as a bad o ring. Won't make pressure properly. But, will be interesting to find out the cause.

Re: NAG1 tranny troubles in a 300

Trouble diagnosed as three speed valve body failure, all on warranty so no big deal. I like seeing (N/C) on the bill.

I have had more trouble, this and brakes problems, with this car (2007 300 Touring) than my Concord and LHS put together. This car sucks, I'm thinking lemon.:p

I looked at the new 300C, nice car but over 40K too much for me with this one in OK condition.

I drive cars until they are fit for the wreckers ball, not to be confused with a dance.:p That time is still too far off.

I had a Mazda 6 loaner, my wife liked it, but I'm not into foreign cars. I prefer NA made cars like the Crossfire says it is.;)

Hardly anyone in this thread used the quote option, so answers and further questions cannot be attributed to any previous posts.
Amazing.

Wait, so there IS some Chrysler in the Crossfire? What I mean is, is the NAG1 a Chrysler item?

What surprised me is that it's in the '300.

THAT is what got my attention.

The 300 was a 2007 and one of the selling points was the Mercedes design tranny.
I may have had a lemon but it was the worst car for problems I have had, the brakes were a constant problem. It was comfortable to ride in but never matched my two LH cars from 1993 and 1995, they had their AC problems etc but I look upon them fondly.

I still have an LH, a 2002 Concorde Limited. Most comfortable car I have ever owned.
Full leather, great climate control and a trunk you could raise a family in.
22 - 25 MPG most of the time, good power from the 3.5 255 HP V6.

80,000 miles and only problem I have had was the A/C compressor locked up, $220 from RockAuto and all was well.

I have not seen an LH car for years up here, great cars. Salt shows no favourites.☹️

I know, I bought the 2002 in 2006, in it's prior life it belonged to a doctor in Michigan.
It still shows the salt scars underneath from that, but has been living a healthy clean life here since then.
