Please wish me luck!!!

I'll be getting up in 5 hours to embark on an 8-hour drive to hopefully aquire the CL65.

Keep your fingers crossed for me if you don't mind. Seriously, cross them and tape them crossed until I post up tomorrow. JK ;)

If all goes as planned, I'll be posting up a photo tomorrow from the dealership of the new ride.

We're all pulling for ya, buddy!

Be sure to run the seat massagers when you put up a 10.5 1/4 mile against Steve's new mega-porch ;)

Thanks for the support guys. I don't know about a 10.5 this year, but I'll be certain to have the seat massagers on high while I catch all my gears in the auto. :)

I guess I'll have to start documenting over on MBWorld now, but it was great making the Crossfire a rocket!

As for the silver/grey wheels, I think that's a common theme with them. Not my favorite, but I'm just happy to have found one for so cheap.

Thanks, but I wouldn't have purchased it if I didn't feel confident I could handle the big dollar repairs myself. I'll likely invest in a Star Das system, and the ABC is the only huge ticket item. There are several write-ups over on MBWorld ranging from the rebuilding the ABC pump, to flushing the lines, all DIY. They are almost as helpful as you guys. :)

You did say it needed a LITER of 0-40 ????
Was it low when you started out, or did you just leave a smoke cloud behind you down the interstate ?

I think the reminder is programmed in to only come on every 5 startups, or something like that. I wasn't beating on it much, and there is no smoke. From what I read over on MBWorld, it's common for the V12's to use a little oil. Car runs very strong, so I'm not too concerned with it at this point.

That reminds me, it's time to change the oil and send a sample off for analysis.

First Look: 2005 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG

Torque and power to end all torque and power

From the December 2004 issue of Motor Trend |

http://image.motortrend.com/f/roadte..._Side_View.jpg

This isn't about a car; it's about an engine. Forget Vipers, Ferraris, Bentleys, all those rumbling turbodiesel-powered American trucks, and anything else you think has punch. The CL65's handbuilt, twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 spanks them all, grunting out 738 pound-feet at just 3000 rpm. And that's only because Mercedes-Benz electronically limits it to that number; fully unleashed, it'd be good for a transmission-shredding 885 pound-feet worth. Its 604-horsepower rating almost gets lost in the blur.

AMG's power mongers begin with the architecture of the twin-blown V-12 that powers both Maybach sedans and several upper-deck Mercedes and gives it a significantly longer stroke, upsized pistons, larger fuel injectors, higher intake-valve lift, longer valve-opening duration, larger turbochargers packing 22 psi of boost, a super-large air-to-water intercooler, oil jets that spray the bottom of each piston, and a big oil cooler. This amazing powertrain also can be had in the SL65 AMG roadster.http://image.motortrend.com/f/roadte...ront_Seats.jpg

Aside from a muted burble at idle, there's little to give away the Russian weightlifter clean-and-jerk-like lunge that shoves you back in the Nappa leather seat. Squeeze the throttle at any rpm, and scenery blurs. Use the paddle-style buttons on the back of the steering wheel, and the modified five-speed automatic hustles between cogs about 35 percent quicker courtesy of AMG Speed Shift technology. This elegant locomotive's 3.8-second 0-to-60 time toasts that of Viper's and Vette's, all of which average in the low fours. The Ford GT is but a tenth quicker--and remember, the Mercedes is a 4500-pound hyper-luxury four-seater.

Along with the driveline mods, AMG ups the game with larger brake discs and calipers, wheels, and tires. It also firms up the struts on the CL65's Active Body Control suspension, and further upgrades the CL's cabin. A $180 grand might seem like a lot for an engine, but they throw one helluva nice car in with the deal.

Yeah, lets concentrate on what matters. Are more hot women sneaking peeks at you driving or more hot men sneaking peeks at your wife driving?
