Default Sold the CL65 and picked up a BMW 335i

My newest project is a twin turbo inline 6 BMW 335i. I'm so pissed that I didn't buy one of these sooner. Very solid car that handles like its on rails. I just purchased a Cobb V4 tuner that adds around 100HP to the already 320HP. With a few more mods (downpipes and intercooler) it should be good for around 400WHP. IF I want to spend a little more for a fuel pump, meth, and MPP intake I can see over 450WHP and maybe even 500WHP with just bolt-on's.

Anyway, I figured I'd update you guys on what' I've been up to. I still miss the beastly SRT6!

Thanks. I paid 21k for the CL65, and sold it a year later for the same amount. I got a steal on the BMW also, of course.

I installed a tune on the car today and the results were pretty surprising. The 0-60 MPH time dropped from 4.9 seconds to 4.3. Happy times.

That's a mean looking wagon. The aggressive M styling is just icing on the cake.

I tried a 2nd gear launch and got the 0-60 down to 4.2 seconds with just a tune and CAI. I installed catless downpipes today and ordered a 7" intercooler for me to install next week. Hopefully the Stage 2+ will get me into the 3's.

Single turbo is where the power is for those.

Agreed, but I'm not going to dump that much money into it. Also, the AT doesn't like much more the 500TQ.

With a tune, downpipes, and $100 CAI the 335i hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds tonight.

Thanks. Hopefully with the intercooler and more boost I'll see 3.8's. At that point it'll just need a little nitrous to be ready for the 1/2 mile event in September.

No more HPFP issues on the N54? Did they finally issue a new part #? -Sorry to see you leave the AMG fam, brother! Though personally, I was surprised at the $$$/HP on that particular vehicle.

I've been on track with a few turbo BMW's. They are fast but have transmission over temp issues after a few laps flat out. (tuned) You seem to get lots of speed for the dollar, whatever you have. I approve of your choices.

I think they updated the part, plus they extended the warranty to 120k miles I believe. As for the AMG, I missed the power, but not the maintenance/repair costs. Hopefully the 335 doesn't turn into a money pit. The E55 with airmatic suspension might be in the cars a couple years from now.

The sport model N54's come standard with a transmission oil cooler, while not all of the non-sport model did. As a result, tuner's recommend non-sport cars get an oil cooler prior to increasing the boost. Mine's a sport, so hopefully I won't have any issues. Also, 1/4 and 1/2 mile creates far less heat that road racing.

In all fairness though, great 0-60 runs in this car doesn't mean squat in the 1/4. They are slow as hell, so I have no illusion of ever seeing better than maybe an 11.5 even with nitrous. Even that would be in perfect conditions. It's still fun nonetheless.
