Bad as*! I didn't care too much for the old Challengers, but this car looks like a winner. This is what they should have done with the Charger.

...holy smokes. If the production car looks this good (and offers a manual trans teamed with the Hemi), I might just have to unload the Crossfire for one. The Magnum/Charger/300C is already so good, I can only imagine how much fun it would be minus several hundred pounds and with the aforementioned (hoped for?) manual.

Depending on price, if it is a cheaper alternative to the GT500, the 6.1L variant, I may be getting one.

It kinda of preferred the cuda grill in some of the renderings i have seen.

The STi will be replaced by either a GT500 or this if they build it.

Don't hold your breath. Chrysler seems stupid when it comes to cars that will compete in the market with the mustang. They seem to mess it up every time...
But we can hope.

Chrysler has not had a RWD, V8 platform to work off of for more than 20 years. Now they do. Since the platform could be a smaller, lighter LX (Magnum/Charger/300C), and since the show car has a HEMI paired with a manual, I expect great things.

I hope it works out.

Man for 12k cheaper than the GT500? I find it hard to believe that it will have the 6.1L for 28k. I hope it does though.

Now I have to make a decision, I am just about to trade my STi in, and preorder a GT500. But this being only 28k? The GT500 with tax will be costing me around 40k. Decisions...decisions...

I wish I had some more cash for my stash, but there will always be bigger and better things no matter what, so maybe I should be riding the city bus.

I wonder if they'll offer it with a "vinyl top"?

Re: 2006 Dodge CHALLENGER

On second thought, maybe vinyl is too...retro. Maybe "carbon fiber" instead.

I know you are kidding, but my $0.02.

Carbon fiber is tomorrow's shag carpet. Sure, if used for structural purposes, it can make light, stiff parts (and even entire monocoque body shells). There is no doubt that the engineering properties of CF are great.

But of course there is no engineering benefit in slapping it over consoles, shift knobs, etc for appearance purposes. Someday, all of the "tuner" cars covered in fake carbon fiber weave will be thought of as tacky.

Vinyl tops go with muscle cars as well as Hurst shifters and Cragar wheels. It's a classic combination. They are a lot less tasteful, say, on a brand new Caddy CTS. But here in the Detroit area, you'll see plenty of the latter - often with whitewall tires and gold trim. Yuck.

Juddz, I love that "shag carpet" quote. Glad you knew I was just joking. But being the "mag boy" that I am, I read in Car & Driver that the T-Stripe on the hood was actually the "unpainted" carbon fiber showing thru. So I just went with that general theme. I'm sure if the car ever becomes a reality, everything will probably be "magnet" friendly.
