Crossfire Key and FOB
Re: Crossfire Key and FOB
If it matches the car you sold I'd say the new owner may want it more than anyone here.
Re: Crossfire Key and FOB
I'd mail it to the new owner. At least that's what I did when I sold my Jeep. Karma will pay you back in the long run.
Here's a true story.
I sold my Jeep 18 months ago. New buyer was supposed to return the wideband. He never did, so I never sent him the 2nd key/fog.
A few months ago my old Jeep sold to a new owner at Barrett Jackson. The new owner contacted me and seemed like a nice guy. I sent him the key/fob free of charge.
Good deed accomplished, and I felt good about it.

Re: Crossfire Key and FOB
This was a key fob I bought off eBay. Never went to my car. Thanks for the ideas though but I'm selling it cheap for parts, or the FOB can be reprogrammed at any Chrysler dealership

What he said. The chip in the key is vin specific, at best you can get the blade cut to open the door (why you would do that I have no idea), but it will never start the car so it is basically a new case for someone............

OP posted this thread in 2012....not likely to respond here and hasn't been online here for many years

Guys, an existing FOB cannot be reprogrammed (and obviously nor can a key be re-cut to turn your cars ingnition) and the only place to get one programmed is from a Chrysler dealer. You can get a key cut by almost any key shop that will open the door and turn in the ignition but without getting the FOB programmed the engine will never start. Some less than ethical sellers on the internet are selling keys that can be recut but cannot be programmed. I investigated the hell out of this trying to save money. My only option was to go to the Chrysler dealership only to get ripped off.
