Rim Size
Does anyone no the smallest rim diameter size that can go on the SRT-6 with out having issues with the brakes. I intend to run autocross with my car and think that reducing the rim size and maintaining the width may have some advantages in un-sprung weight, tire cost and acceleration. I will need to verify that the SCCA Solo 2 rules allow down sizing?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I autocross my SRT and have 18's all around. I think the back could go down to 17's, but the fronts look like they might have a problem with 17's (depending on the style). As far as changing wheel size with autocrossing it will kick you out of stock class. I looked into it when I first got the car and found that going to 18's all around popped me into ASP. So I am running against some very well set up Corvettes that kick my butt, now that could be just the driver, though :-).
Thanks,
Michael

I know nothing about autocross at all. But I was just wondering, if you used 4 stock 18" (front) rims all the way around, would they even notice it in inspection? I thought maybe it might slip by the inspectors, so you could run stock class.
I remember the guys at the drags use to over look alot of things that looked "stock" when inspecting cars for class assignment.
Things may be alot different for autocross though.

Was the crossfire ever sold with smaller diameter rims in any trim level or were 18" and 19" always standard for every year and every trim level?
The tech guys would never notice unless they happen to be a crossfire driver. I new up sizing rims was a no no but thought that down sizing was with in the rules since there would be a substantial loss of rim width, 9.5" down to 8" in the rear.
Autocross is a gentlemen’s sport when it comes to rules, I would rather stay within the rule to compete its more fun for me that way. Specially, on the odd days when I win!
