AMEN! I knew his dad Connie when he raced a *****'s at New Baltimore MI and I was doing C Gas. No fear and always on the edge. Scott followed his daddy's tracks. God Bless and watch over all drivers.

Truly a great loss to the drag raciing world, family and friends. Our prayers go out to all.
Odd that Scott should begin and end his career at Englishtown.

I was watching ESPN2 this morning and they were interviewing Jim Head? and he said many, many of the tracks are outdated and need to be lengthened.
I too remember watching Kalitta's Bounty Hunters at Capitol Raceway back in the 60 and early 70's. One of the greatest experiences I think I have ever had was watching a funny car meet from the starting line, standing a few feet away. The smell of Nitro methane and the sound, hard to explain you just had to be there.
Hopefully some good will come out of this.

In a fitting tribute to Drag Racing Champion Scott Kalitta, Robert Hight funny car pilot for John Force Racing was to race Scott in the first round of eliminations on Sunday. With members of the Kalitta family and pit crew from DHL standing on the starting line. Hight fires up his 8000hp monster, rolls to the line, counts down the christmas tree, releases the clutch and idles down the track to the finish line. His normally 4 second run took 23 seconds.
Force was interviewed later asked as to why would the team waste an oppurtunity to gather valuable race data, Force explained it was Hight's idea and decision and that JFR supported Hight's decision to pay tribute to their lost comrade and fellow Champion !
