Anyone autocrossing Dot R's?
 

Specifically in the stock sizes or within a .25 offset.? 18's up front 19's in back? What tires are you running? I'm hoping to be able to switch over sometime this year but I'm having a hard time finding something that would fit and keep me in the stock class.

I just got a set of A6 Hoosiers from a forum member who campaigned in SCCA DS class. The set up is 285 18 on the front using 5mm spacer. I found a very slight rub under heaving cornering so will be using 6mm this season. Backs are 255 19s with 10(?) mm spacer from HR. I could give you more details if needed. Currently I run this in local club and also in DS class. Big front tires really helps in autocross.

Thanks noVATim, I checked tirerack and couldn't find that 19 size maybe some other sites might have it. I'm not in a hurry to buy these, just doing my research now. Would you mind giving me the full sizes, I'm still learning tires. 285 ? 18 and 255 ? 19

I can save you a lot of hassle so I will post the set up in a couple days. You will be amazed how big a tire you can run in autocross and still be legal.

I haven't been on here in a long time since my Crossfire sold last August. I sold Tim some of his stuff. Basically the setup is the stock size wheels in front and rear. I ran a 1/4 inch spacer up front with the 285/30/18's mounted on the 7.5 inch wheels. The rears were a now discontinued Konig forged race wheel in the stock diameter and width but with a +40 offset. To get a legal offset I got a set of 12mm spacers. So the front track was 1/4 inch wider than stock and the rear track was 1/4 inch narrower. I ran 285/30/18 fronts with 295/30/19 rears. Both Hoosier A6 compound.

Bryan (Nocones) and I each had a set of custom Konis built for the car. You can check with Lee Grimes at Koni as he should still have the valving specs on file. I ran the H&R front sway bar mounted in custom delrin bushings as well. I think with the front camber bolts I managed to get about -1.8 camber in front and I ran a slight bit of toe out in front and a slight bit of toe out in the rear.

Hope that helps. BTW this setup helped me trophy at both SCCA Prosolo's I attended in 2008 and I won the DC Prosolo in 2007 with the car as well. It worked really well for D Stock.

I have everything but the Koni's on my car and I can't say enough how siginicant of advantage this is. I was already doing well in a local club running D Stock and was a little hesitant on putting this on my car. That is until the first event. It is hard to describe how well this car now turns and brakes. Their are cars with more HP but my 2005 Limited handles the rest well. Key to the Keith's setup is the huge front tire. When I mount them(spacer needed) I still can't beleive they fit.

I would love to know all the details of the set up too. I'm just starting out (1 event) but I enjoyed myself tremendously. It's obvious to me the the most glaring weakness the Crossfire has is front tire grip. I had no brake problems (short track and few laps) I have another event the 22nd of march which I'll use to improve my line and driving but am looking to buy a dedicated set of rims and tires in the future. Don't let a fellow forum member waste his money! (I have stainless steel lines and Porterfield R4S already on order)

285 front tire will help a lot! I am still grinning from my last event in November. I can within .5 sec(index time) from winning. Not too bad since I have only entered 12 events. Lost to an instructor. Not too bad of a day.

My 19 inch rear Konig rim is less than 24lbs and the front is about 19. I was very suprised on how noticable that was compared to street set up. A6 Hoosiers are really light too. Great combo and the tires feels just like a post-it-note. Now that is tacky.

I am still learning and nowhere near as good as Keith or Bryan but I did place 5th overall(not just D Stock) in my local club for the season. This was against many instructors and some dedicated autocross cars. Crossfires with good tires can be quite competitive.

I'm hoping to be able to get into these A6's sometime during the season. I'm in the lead points wise but that's because the fast guys haven't shown up :rolleyes: As soon as they do, they'll reel me in. Definately need these tires and lighter rims. Really appreciate your taking the time to help me sort the sizes out.

I couldn't put the steel brake lines on 'cause it would've taken me out of the stock class, but I did put the Porterfield R4S's on the front, they work great.
