Hey Everyone,

Does anybody have the offical time that the XF goes from 0-60? Is it really 6.5 seconds? I raced a Volks Wagon GTI which can go from 0-60 in 6.3 seconds and I beat it to 60. I have stock everything with just K&N airfilters in a Limited 05 Coupe. Thanks!

Car & Driver..................6.5sec. in a 6spd.
Motor Trend..................7.1sec. for the automatic.

 

and yet weirdly other tests show the auto being quicker to 60 and better on the go juice too????

 

Yeah, the EPA rates the automatic's mpg as being higher also, but I've noticed that's not the case either.
And since the 1/4 mile times for the stock 6 spd. is close to 1/2 a second faster than the automatic, it only stands to reason 0 to 60 times would be too.

 

Interesting. I dont know about you guys but that seems way to slow for me. Perhaps I should look in to some modifications?...

why not ask what each members xfire does the (sixity foot) 60', 0 to 60 we have to depend on what is published ,, where those that might go to the drag strip would know what there 60' is, example mine is 1.81... jim

7. your ET ( time it takes you to go 1/4 mile) in seconds-----------------12.402

you see the 0 to 60 is calculated by people we don't know but the 60' is done by our members of all forums at the drag strip and car magazines when they test most cars.to get the 0 to 60 on my car i would have to read it somewhere or go on a long street and with a stop watch time it. this is why i said 60' may be better,, jim

 

Whether you're looking at 0-60mph time or 60' times, it is going to vary from car to car and driver to driver. On a drag strip the level of surface prep will play a big role - at California Speedway the dragstrip is apparently prepped with axle grease because traction is usually nonexistant.

If you're driving a car with a magazine published 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds and you beat a guy in a car with a published time of 6.3 seconds, it only means that you're a better driver than he is. Just because a car is capable of something doesn't mean that everyone will be able to achieve it.

That's why in my PT Cruiser turbo I've outrun Mustang GTs at the drag strip. People tell me it's not possible because a magazine told them that a Mustang runs the 1/4 in such and such a time. I always just respond that apparently the driver of that particular Mustang must not read magazines.

 

Mike just said the word I was going to use - I totaly agree, one of my freinds drag races a bike which he shares with 2 other riders. On the same day, the 3 riders each did 5 runs with only a rear tyre change about mid way. On 4 out of the 5 runs the results showed consistantly which rider was quickest and so on, even though only 0.5 seconds seperated them. They reckon it is 75% rider 25 % variables on the bike

Yep, I once watched a new GTO run the 1/4 mile in about 25 minutes. Took that long for the tow truck to pull it out of the K-rail, put it on the flat bed, and drive it to the end of the track. The driver thought he could drive out of the fishtailing. The driver apparently couldn't drive. Guess he wasn't really a driver after all then, was he?

All in all, not a true indicator of the GTOs capabilities.
