How fast is the limited going to be at a mile track 160 mpg?

Re: Texas Mile High Speed Shoot-Out March 27-29

There is no speed limit at the Texas Mile. A roll cage is needed at 190mph. I have run 150's many times and 173mph in a Z06. A Toyota Supra holds the street car record at 241mph. The track car record is 343mph I believe.

You are kidding right? It's 6 hours away, I know people that come from California, Florida, Chicago and New York that travel to the event. One guy drove here in a 900hp Porsche with a racing drivers seat  but he did it. For what you get, it's worth the drive. Did you go to the site and watch the video? www.texasmile.net my SRT6 is in it.

The issue I have is taking off Thurs. Friday and Monday from work. I may be able to avoid Monday but the travel will eat up that time. I have been following it. In fact, when you and I both dealt with Erick way back when, we had discussions regarding how he was prepping your car and what I may want to do with mine. I believe you and I both inquired about the header deal they offered about the same time as well so they would have a car to run that plus some other offerings on the SRT. I have not ruled it completely out but at this time, my schedule is an issue.

Re: Texas Mile High Speed Shoot-Out March 27-29

I have put a lot of thought into doing this for the past few years, but I would be PISSED to get down there only to find that the Speed Limiter on our computers had not been removed or reset. The only way I would go is if Jerry or Erick went to retune on site if needed. Short of getting on the freeway and doing 160, there is no way to tell if it is really gone. We ran my car up to 150 on the Dyno one time and it cut out between 150-155. I know these cars act differently when the front tires are moving so I did not worry about it.

I agree. There would be a lot of hype before and during so you would not want that to ruin the whole thing. Jerry insists it was raised to something like 200 mph.

My car goes on the dyno Monday for 170mph blast.

I went to the desert some time back and hit 170mph on a flat, desolate road when I installed my IAT gauge.

I might just go back out there, measure off a mile and make a few runs before loading up for Texas.

There is no where in the Dallas area to even think about trying this!

Brian,

Do you feel you were tapped out at that point?

Nope - just runnin' up on a sweeping curve. If it were banked like a super speedway, I might have been tempted to give it try - a little slower.

There was no real torque left at that speed - but the SRT felt solid, just hugging the road - I was really amazed at how well the car felt and how smooth it was rolling along.

I would say there was another 15-20MPH left. Just not sure if it could reach it within a mile.
