Mark your calendars as the next Laps For Charity event will happen at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 9th. This is your chance to experience the thrill of driving the 1.5 mile oval.
It would be fun to have a large group of Crossfires represent! Post here if you’re interested in going and let's get the list started. I'll update the thread with details as the event date gets closer.

Do you get to run it solo too? Unfortunately no. You go in groups and there will be a pace car. But speeds go up to 90-100mph...legally!

Dan, I'm in as of now, with or without mi esposa. I may bring my grandson, but have time to plan. I will follow your posts.
Question? Did Harley (above) refer to helmet for car or for bike?
Question? Is there a formal drivers meeting or just a read and sign?
Question? Is there a group run guarantee (barring weather)?
Question? Will there be a second group run if there are X cars?
Question? Will there be a group registration and when and where is the entry paid?
Question? Will there be a group meet and travel enmasse to the site?

Here's the details TMS sent me about the event today:
We take reservations for car clubs of 12 or more cars from 5 pm until 7 pm. We currently have spaces available from 5:30 pm until 6:45 pm. Cost is $30 for three laps. Unfortunately the electronic flyer is not finished yet but I hope to have it by the first part of next week.
Below are some of the general rules for Laps:
Vehicle must be street legal and have current inspection sticker
All occupants in a car including the driver must wear a seatbelt
No drivers under the age of 18
All occupants must be at least 6 years of age or older
All occupants in a car must sign a waiver
Legal guardian of minors must sign separate waiver
Motorcyclists must wear a helmet and must stay on the apron of the track
No passing
Single file only (Please give us 1 lap to get up to speed)
Follow all instructions of Texas Motor Speedway vehicles on the track
The pace car will set the speed limit
If any vehicle in the group violates any of the safety procedures listed, the Texas Motor Speedway pace car will pull to the apron and bring the entire group to a stop. The violator will be pulled from the group and escorted from the Track.

Groups should arrive at least 45 minutes prior to run.

John, Since people are coming from all areas of town, we would just meet at the TMS.

The event normally runs if it rains. They just slow down the cars a bit.

Reason I asked is I'm looking at a 5 hour drive and others like Stogey and Jared are 3-4 hours. If others decide to return home same day day, an early schedule would be better. May 10th is M day you know.

They will let you in early so we can talk and look at all the cars in the infield etc. Just not sure how early. Makes it nice rather than just coming into the track, driving it and leaving.

Hey guys, been 20 days no news. Wassup? Do you have enough for a group run? We, CTC, are having our April GTG in Marble Falls on the 19th an I'd like to see is anyone is up for the 9 May trip, but I'd like to know what's in your plans.
