I think if we can get to at least 10 we can get a discount but as I am in the parts business I don't think under 10 will entice them very much. Someone had posted that he had a connection with a distributor (in Japan I think) but has removed his post, he wanted to try to get some MB people in. If it was someone reading this PM or email me if you are still interested. I think soon we should get back with Mr. Boulekos with the quantity on the list and find out his reaction.
Two questions..

A. How long do we wait for more to join
B. Has anyone been in on a group buy before and if so how was the money handled.
I will be glad to do what we need to do.

The list is at...

1. Paul Werner - auto
2. Danimal - manual
3. 04Fire
4. Eracer76 - auto
5. squat6
6. SRT6_Roadster (maybe)
7. Knowit manual

I think finding out what the price is going to be will go a long way in finalizing the list. Maybe get a price range for <10, >10 & >20. It's easier to make a decision if you know the price up front. Just a suggestion to help move this along. Thanks for ramrodding this thing Paul.

You are correct, I will email them and ask upfront if we order 10 what price and if we order 20 what price and will post his response. I just don't want this to die in committee, I want one!

Ok guys here is where we are at, this is their reply,

Dear Mr Werner,

The price for 10 Sprint Booster (MERCEDES -BDD 451 - BDD 451A) including shipping costs and custom brokerage fees will be 2.024 Euro
The price for 20 Sprint Booster (MERCEDES -BDD 451 - BDD 451A) including shipping costs and custom brokerage fees will be 3.835 Euro

I' d also like to inform you that you may be responsible for additional taxes & customs duties in US.
The above prices are export prices for USA only.

Shipping is via UPS door to door service (Aprox. 5 days delivery).
The payment shall be via bank transfer.

Best Regards

Stamatis Boulekos
Just looking at a conversion on the net it is ...
for 10 - $257.00 ea plus fees duties, bank wire charges etc.
for 20 - $244.00 ea plus the same.
I will look into these but maybe one of yall know. I will post my findings on import duties etc. They will ship them to one location and one of us will need to reship to the others. Not a big deal but a little money for UPS.

Paul, I'm still in. Shipping with USPS is $4.05 Priority Mail (2 day delivery) after they get here for calculation comparison purposes. I'm not sure what UPS or FEDEX rates would be. I think if all the fees, etc. are spread equally, we can come out at maybe $300.00 or less.

This is fun !! I just got off the phone with Customs and was on their web site for ever and have come to the conclusion I don't know. I believe the duty fee will be 2.5% that UPS will charge at delivery. That adds $6.50 to the part, big deal. I have been told it could be none or more. I have no experience in this and my contacts at Freightliner can only tell me about manufacturers rules. So any of yall ever done this? I have emailed rdotson to see if he had to pay any duty fees and if so what they were but for now I am stuck. I have also left a message with my bank to get transfer fees but I think it will be about $50.00. This will end in what I think will be about $280.00 delivered. Ideas???

Paul, I have been overseas many times and dealt with customs on return...and what you found out is pretty accurate. The duty will be anywhere from nothing to a few dollars. It is paperwork for them and most agents don't want to deal with it, or if they do, it is minimal.

I think your estimate is going to be pretty close. Now, if we can just get 10 confirmed purchases!!!

Wow, quick response from rdotson,

Paul... I did NOT have to pay those. Stamatis filed the papers such that it did not trigger a tax, apparently... Good luck! I still love this thing! Robert

So what yall think? Can we get 3 more? I haven't done a group buy before and so after thinking about it I thought we should pick one of us to do the order - all send say $300.00 (since we don't know about duty fee) or whatever amount we agree on and when the part comes in he or she ships them out with whatever change is due. ??

I'm sure if you post all your findings on MBworld there will be at least 3 people that will jump in on the deal.

Then we just need to work out the payment issues.
Sounds like this may happen soon, I can't wait to get one!

Does anyone have a paypal account that can accept payments and would be willing to process the ordering requests and shipping requirements after they are received? I think that would be the easiest way if there is a volunteer.

In lieu of that, if everyone wants to deal with checks/money orders, etc. then I will volunteer. That said, if checks are sent, I would want to wait until they cleared so that I don't end up forked in the process. Money orders or bank drafts would definitely speed up the process.

All we need are 10 or more with the money up front.

Dan

I have posted our findings on the MBWorld site and given them my email and once again invited them to join our forum. I am showing my age but I do not have a paypal but can set one up if needed, I took a quick look and it looks like there is a small fee to do it. I will handle the process also if money orders or drafts are used. Whatever needs to be done, lets make it happen... I WANT one.

Are you guys still in for sure?

What does these sprint booster do? If it will get rid of the slow pick-up at times I would be very interested. I have a '05 limited roadster auto. I get real sick of stomping on the gas sometimes and have it act like a four banger!! Were can I go to get more info. on this item.

crossfirefrank,
The sprint booster is for throttle lag of drive by wire and your post sounds like that is your complaint. Start at the first page of this thread and see if this is what you want, then let us know.
