What's going on?
What's going on?
My 2005 Crossfire Limited left me stranded. I drove to the store and noticed my spoiler was up even tho I never hit 60mph. Came out and car wouldn't start, and the ABS brake light was on. Finally got it to start but wouldn't get out of park. Disconnected the battery then reconnected it. Got me the 1/2 mile home but now same thing. Had a code reader put on by a mechanic friend but it didn't recognize the Crossfire. What's going on?

Re: What's going on?
The problem is the Crossfire is a wonderful car to look at and drive (if you are under 5'10") but few understand how it works. Car is 80% Mercedes Benz SLK320 and made in Germany but Mercedes mechanics are not interested and Chrysler mechanics have not a clue.

Re: What's going on?
NO ONE can tell you what is going on with the car, but I can say that there are several possibles here:
1) Unstable/low system voltage due to a failing battery and/or alternator. This explains the wing acting funny and no starts but only possibly explains not getting out of park.
2) Traction control relay output is failing, this is an RCM failure. This explains the wing and not getting out of park but not so much the no start.
3) Lousy ground connection between the battery and chassis OR between the block and chassis OR really cruddy connections at the battery.
Why can't anyone tell you what is going on? Because...........
Telling us "it would not start" is a sure way to waste your time and ours. That is an ambiguous statement. What we want to know is this:
Did the car's starter engage but the engine refused to start, or started and died?
or...........
Did the starter not even engage?
Above are two VERY different failures and which one you had, combined with your other information, tells us a lot.

Re: What's going on?
Thank you everyone for the very helpful information and your time. This forum saved my sanity. It is an unbelievable wealth of information that I had not tapped before being new to the Crossfire family but now have a go to, to research questions I might have. I have taken the time to read the new members 'don't be an idiot'. Looking forward to being a more active member.
