Default I installed a killer chiller & how it works

This killer chiller was installed by Jerry Bridwell,he owns Pro auto, in Davie Florida 9545578495

before you look at the two videos let me explain a few things. The killer chiller is installed under the front bumper. It is installed in parallel with the air-conditioning system, it's like a van with two air conditioners with one in the front one in the rear, the mine has the factory air conditioner still in its original location and then the second condenser set up is under the front bumper, it's called killer chiller.,there are no heat exchangers at all on the car. Here the videos one is 10 min. and is worth the entire 10 min. to watch it you'll see the water in the tank dropped to 36°, and the IAT's reading in the manifold 52° , jim
I probably didn't need to post both because you can use arrows and see both of them

Soon I will get a video, of staging ,, the burnout, and the quarter-mile run, and the return to the pits . So we can see what the IAT start at, how high they go, and how quickly they come back down. jim

Hello Jim,

just to understand how things work.

You use the killer chiller to cool down the engines intake air? Is that right?
And the killer chiller works like a second air condition, but without an additional ac compressor?

So what is the main target? To cool down the intake air to get more hp?
And if so, the ac compressor will need a lot of energy to cool down the intake air. So did you measure how much enery (hp) you will need to cool down and how much energy (hp) you will get from this system?

Or is this system installed to get engine tempratures down in general?

Thanks & regards
Markus

it is used to cool the cahrge air from the i/c. it uses the freon from the a/c unit to cool the supercharged air down. no additional power is needed as the a/c shuts off during wot runs. the super low air temps dont rise to s/c shutoff before the run is complete and the cooldown takes less than 5 mins vs the 45 to 1 hr normally needed

thanks krazy, the colder air, the more dense the air,= more hp

first I have my supercharger water system separated from the engine, so I'm cooling the water as it gos through the inter cooler (normally that water is cool by the heat exchangers), I removed my heat exchangers) so the AC unit up front is actually cooling the water going through my use to be heat exchanger system, the inter cooler gets cooled thus the air gets cooled,,, with a stock SRT6, or( v8), the water in your heat exchanger system runs about the 20 to 30° above ambient at 60 miles an hour,,,, mine runs 20° or more below ambient.
At the track a stock heat exchanger system, on a cold engine, by the time you get through the staging area, finish your burnout, your IAT's the somewhere around 110,, by the time you get through your 1/4 mile run, your IAT's are somewhere close to 180.

now my car as I'm going Through staging,my IAT's are from 49 to 55 degrees, during the burnout, my iat's go the 80,and by the time I move up to the lights, get staged my Iat's are back down to 55, at the end of the quarter mile, my Iat's are somewhere around 90 to 100,, as I said for I'm going to do a video of this shortly. I have no drip from my AC system. jim

Thanks for the explanation, krazy and amx1397.

Now i understand it's for drag strip purporses. And i think it makes sense there. Over here in germany we don't have that drag strip history, because we don't have public drag strips. We have the german autobahn which is is some regions still without speed limit. And there we don't have the overheating problems because of the airflow.

The colder air, the more dense the air = more hp
That's right. But if you cool down down the air, you need engine energy to do that. If you need more energy to cool down the air, then you gain from cooling, you don't have any effort. So for drag racing this may work, because you only drag for a short time and can use the previousely cooled down compressor and water.

Regards
Markus

i have had both cold air on the highway at speeds of 130 and cold air on the drag strip read my thds about having 3 heat exchangers also look up IAT's

Talking Re: I installed a killer chiller & how it works

Jim, are you saying that the a/c is still operating at 130 mph? Iam guessing that at wide open throttle the a/c shuts off for protection, please let me know when it does shut off if you have noticed. Thank you, Wdy

Hey Jim, would like to know where the heck your battery is now located?
Also, I'm thinking that you don't really need the water tank you installed?
Which unit did you use off the Chiller site?
And last, how much did Jerry charge for the install and how long did it take him?
I'm just a ways up the coast and very interested in getting one installed!

mike, my batt is in the trunk ,drivers side under the carpet,
the price is according to what you want, and who gets the parts you or jerry
do you want your heat exchanger, set up on a valve,so you can run it with or without the K C
yes the water tank is needed, it can go in the trunk and leave the batt where it is.
yes the K C was from Kenkade,, had to buy two "T" fitting to connect to our AC.
spoke to jerry he said you can call him and you can discuss the price,
his his number954-557- 8495

Great thread,

couple of questions,

Where is the actual killer chiller located? I see the tank, and I see one of the lines goes below it, where was the chiller actually mounted.

What kit did you buy from kencade?

Where did the water tank come from?

Under the front bumper
I got the old kit,off ebay,,the new kit is better. call Kencade , google Killer chiller

I had it made to fit where the Batt. was.

Last night on the way hone it was 79* and was slightly raining, not enough for the wipers on all the time, I was cruising at 60 mph and my IAT's was 42*
