Default Need source for Auto Shutdown relay

I can't seem to find a quality source for a Auto Shutdown Relay for my 2004 Crossfire N/A 6 Speed Coupe. What is the best brand and where can I buy one ? Thanks, Tim

I would like to help, but I don't have a clue as to what an "auto shutdown relay" is.
Maybe a picture, or at least where it is located and what is it supposed to do ?

I thought I was dumb when I did not know what it was, I guessed a relay at the battery, it shutting off all power. All the pollution codes would be lost.

Pluse 1 (or 2?), never heard of this part. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies! Found out that it does not exist. The shop I had scan my car was trying to sell me alot of shop time to work on my car. It is a shame some people consciously try to "Hoo Doo " people out of their hard earned money......

Talking Re: Need source for Auto Shutdown relay

At one time there was a shutoff relay -device- or really an impact relay for collision shut off of the fuel pump when FI cars started out. I was thinking that was the item that was being described. Woody

We DO have one of those !
It's called an RCM and this feature is activated by one or more things :
1. bad solder joints.
2. burnt relay contacts.
3. open relay coils.
I guarantee it can automatically shutoff your car.

Ford used a similar device in the 90's. It shut down the fuel pump in a collision. There was a reset button in the trunk area when it would occasionally trip on its own for no reason. I seem to remember resetting more of them in station wagons.

There is one in my 2001 Ford Ranger too, BEHIND the passenger side front kick panel.

Thumbs up Re: Need source for Auto Shutdown relay

OK Gang, I am shipping my RCM to have it fixed ! ala_Fire hit it on the Head ! Now I need to find someone to send my computer to have it flashed with the latest and greatest program for a completely stock Crossfire Base Coupe N/A 6 speed. Called and left messages 2 times on voice machine @ Eurocharged and also 2 e-mails on their website. Anybody have a number or contact number OR both ? I have seen here that they are the top runner so far. Also I do most of my time on the interstate @ about 70 mph. (Daily Driver) 2600 rpm I think, but on weekends I do drive up in mountains and around town. what kind of mods and in what order would you all recommend ? No drag racing just want more " maneuverability" ! Let me know because I plan on pulling it down tomorrow. I do have a Daughter in college so cheap (FYI) and proven mods are welcome. Thanks ! Tim

1. Single cold air intake. ( Not cheap )
2. 74 mm throttle body upgrade. ( fairly cheap, 50-100$ )
3. Eurocharged tune for the CAI and the TB. ( again, not cheap )

I know free flow and all that BUT I am not that familiar with the particulars of these cars. I am just an old school guy who has built street cars but I do not even pretend to know the proper mods to warm up a Crossfire. I have had this car for 2 years and it has been difficult leaving it alone even this long ! ! I do know to ask people who have " been there & done that " before going off half-cocked. Any and all input is welcome ! Tim

From my years of reading this forum, I have come to the conclusion that there is NO exhaust mod worth the time and expense when it comes to adding HP, most are for sound.
If you want to spend really big bucks, there are some exhaust headers available from Rob at NeedsWings, but I don't think you gain too much power.

The 3 things I listed above are about all you can do to an NA to gain some torque/power, there are TONS of stuff you can do with an SRT6.
I have had all 3 on my NA for about 4 years now, no problems or complaints.

DJ ( tighed1 ) is about to get his NA back from Corky at Bell engineering after 4 years with a turbo.
We are all waiting to see how that finally turns out.

Thanks for the reply and I will take this info to heart. I also will be waiting to see the Turbocharged version of a Crossfire. It could be a game changer !

One very important thing you should check in to is the "sticky key fix"
It may have already been done, if it has then the person 'should' have left a note to that effect inside the driver side fuse panel door.

( also, the RCM re-solder is well worthwhile, as well as a CPS replacement with a Bosch CPS )
