Cabin Heater not hot questions
Cabin Heater not hot questions
Ok, so I replaced my water pump and thermostat yesterday. Let it sit overnight so sealant would be good and dry for today. Just went out and added 2 gallons of distilled water just to check for leaks. NO LEAKS! Started and ran the car at idle for about 15 minutes with the cabin heater turned up full blast and temp dials on both sides turned up all the way. Temperature gauge got up to the normal range (about half way) but the air blowing in the cabin did not feel warm. I'm in a garage, about 45 degrees out side, hood up on car with the cowl off. Windows of the car are both down. I never saw the radiator fan come on. Why isn't the air blowing warmer inside the cabin?
I plan to drain out some of the water and add Zerex G-05 antifreeze to a final mixture of 50/50. Once I'm sure I have no leaks but that looks good so far.
I should note that I had good heat blowing in the cabin before.

Re: Cabin Heater not hot questions
I had good warm heat before changing the pump. Wondering if I just don't have enough fluid in the system yet as I only added 2 gallon wich is almost a gallon short of capacity although the reservoir tank still is half full.
Re: Cabin Heater not hot questions
Is the header tank half full with water or old antifreeze?
Fill it right up with distilled water, run it and top it up again if required. I would then drain it all again which would remove more old antifreeze. Then do what you have to do to get the 50/50 mix. There is a good PDF by James1549 on renewing the antifreeze, you should read it.

I can see that we have to give you some time after your posts to let you add new info or think about the problem more before adding our two cents.

180, I appreciate all the advice I get here. I also try to think my own way through problems. I don’t want to be someone who can’t think for myself, but I’m also not too proud to ask for help. In the end I think you were correct in the fact that the system was probably low and had air in it.
