Crossfire replacement key in the UK - dealer £300 ($375)!

I know replacement keys are expensive and difficult to get, so when my key skittered down a storm drain as I was getting my phone out my pocket, you can imagine how my heart sank. I checked my car insurance and I had key replacement covered, but after speaking to the insurance company they would only contribute up to £300 ($375) and they had to find an approved source. Knowing that NeedsWings charge $800 for a replacement non-USA key, I was therefore expecting a big bill.
The insurance company got back to me and said I would have to go through Arnold Clark, a nationwide dealership who are the only dealers for Chrysler/Jeep in the UK. They then apologetically informed me that mine was quite an expensive key - so I braced myself for a shock - £297.55 including VAT. Of course I snapped their hand off at that and made a claim!
I went to Arnold Clark at Linwood (Glasgow) who was my nearest dealer. They were very knowledgeable having dealt with Crossfire keys before, ordered the key from Chrysler with their system, confirmed the price was correct and told me the lead-time was 3 weeks.
Sure enough the key arrived three weeks later from the USA and worked perfectly! So moral of the story, it might be worth checking with the dealer first, especially in the UK and possibly even in the states :)

That is great news for owners in UK as I am looking to get a second key.
