Are the engine management module and relay module the same?

I'm looking to buy a used crossfire from a dealership and it has the check engine light problem. They couldn't figure it out so they sent it to a chrysler dealership to try and do it. I've been reading past articles on this engine light problem and it seems that a module needs to be replaced. Are the two modules listed in the title the same module or two different ones?

Just post the trouble code "DTC" that the dealer identified and I'll help answer your question...

His dealership didn't know the codes, it's part of the reason he had to send it to the chrysler techs.

Well if his dealership didn't know the codes, how can he say that a module needs to be replaced ???

A check engine light "CEL" can be activated by something as silly as loose gas cap...

He doesn't know, I assumed that was the problem due to the test drive I had with the vehicle. All it said, when I was in it was "Check engine" I didn't see any codes.

The way you access the DTC's is through the OBD port and a scantool... You won't know what is causing the CEL until you read the codes through the scantool... So, until that happens I can't help you... :(

I had the same problem recently, and the dealer replaced the "Engine Management Module". Part #CR5099007AA.

I appreciate your persistence trying to help me. If the dealer ever gives me the code I'll pass it on to you guys. Thanks again.

I have a feeling that is what it is.
