Default SRT6 into a 6MT

I'm not sure if there has already been a thread started with this same subject, and I'm too lazy to search the forums, but I was wondering if the SRT6 engine will bolt up to the 6 speed?

Has anyone done it before?

no one has done it ... people have discussed it ... it went nowhere other than speculation that it will bolt up ...

You're right...the thread HAS been discussed before...If you did search you'd find a lot of discussion on it.

As far as I know it's never been done...though I can't see it not working, being the same engine block and all. You'd probably just start having trouble with the trans though.

I think the trans could probably handle it. The clutch would take a good bit of excessive abuse compared to a base 3.2L

I will probably look into it one day, when my warranty is expired and I am not scared to touch anything for fear of voiding it!

Until then, Autostick for me!

In answer to your question... Yes, the 6spd manual transmission will bolt directly... I am in the process of this exact project but do not have all the answers yet... The tranny is not the major issue, though you will need a heavy duty clutch (Spec Clutches) and some minor modifications to the flywheel attachment... The BIG issue is the engine electronics... This is definitely not something that can be done and still expect the normal operation of the OEM systems... But if you're building a race car, who cares...

I'll keep everyone posted with my progress...

Good Luck! Can't wait to see the results.

Too bad the Mercedes guys have not gone all that far with their cars. Would have been nice to have some answers and good info out there to build on.
