What's this?

This looks like more than a service manual on CD.

Yup... just need the DRB III tool. BUT, it's only factory updates. You'd have to get some MB flashes to upgrade... or Crossfire custom flashes if they are out there.

Does anybody on this forum own a DRB-III tool? The DVD does contain the factory flash for the Crossfire.

Re: What's this?

This the SEA-J2534 standard which was enacted by the EPA. All car manufacturers must allow and provide all ECU/PCM flashes and modifying capabilities to the general public.

While this is still in it's infancy and very expensive. We could get a J2534 pass-though unit and a subscription for access to their flashes and all car documents relating to our cars for a fee.

In addition, to the manufacturer flashes you can also custom manipulate everything any of the controllers control. i.e. timing, fuel maps, transmission shift points, Rev limits, governor limits. these are and example of just a few things you can adjust.

I have been reading researching this. I found a unit for about $1,800, plus a years subscription to Chryslers flashes and manuals and all data that pertains to the crossfire for additional $1,700.

I also found out that chrysler will let you have access for 24 hours for $20 or $200 for a month.

I hope to one day save the money for this unit and then begin modifying my ECU/PCM directly instead of tuning a piggyback or complete aftermarket ECU, which is what i currently do on my other car.

ApocMan,

I was wondering when you would see this post. It reminded me of our conversations and was wondering if this had anything to do with what you were telling me. FYI, I may have found the smoking deal on a V8 this one is from a CL500 with less than 15,000 miles. I am trying to negotiate in the ECU and engine harness. I am not considering buying an engine without this stuff. I still haven't figured out if this will all work but I can only figure so much out in advance and then it is time start learning the hard way (fun way).
