Air Intake mod's

I’m looking at improving the air flow into the engine of my NA Limited Crossfire.
I’ve looked at ‘Needswings’ intake – but that’s for supercharges.
I’ve looked at ‘Jonnyangels04’ – I like that.
I’ve looked at ‘TVTDesigns’ – like that too.

Currently I just have K&N filters, but I have removed the intake portion from the engine cover to the front end – so I have no flex tube, and no plastic piece immediately behind the grill. I know this will ingest somewhat warmer air, but more air can flow into the engine & air intake tube area.
Initially my next trial will be to get some PVC pipe (or similar) and attach it to the factory air box pipes and route it directly behind the grill – I’m having a problem finding the right diameter.

Off the top of my head I would like two air intake pipes running pretty much as they do now, but preferably with the filters in front of the radiator, right behind the grill. This obviously requires a Y pipe.
My concerns are water ingestion. Anybody having problems on very rainy days with modified setups like the 3 mentioned above?

Does anybody know of anything out there that will do?
Is there any benefit in getting the intake of an SLK320?
Can I make the SRT6 setup fit (or a similar setup)?
Is there a V8 air box setup out there which will just drop right in? (I seem to think there was but I can’t find it).

Thanks up front.

Re: Air Intake mod's

Just wondering if the engine has a deeper intake sound with the air intake tubes removed from the engine air box cover ?? I have K&N's in mine too.

no deeper sound and a loss of 21hp test and dyno done on mbworld do not remove the tubes. Second PM me if your interested I will help you out with the info on how to build my intake for less then $100 duals for close to $160

Can anyone tell me how the TVT Design air intake mounts to the car - I can't see it clearly on their website? (and they haven't responded)
Where is the filter located, is it right behind the grill, or just behind the plane of the radiator, still in the engine bay?
