that piece is there to prevent water from getting sucked into the intake.

you have heard of the rain stormes we have in florida,, well my grille was moddified the second day i owned it and no water has gotten to the intake of me.
the grille was made that way so you couldn't see through it ,, and maybe to help slow rocks down. either way ,it is a mod that gets the eng ing more air,,, (your engine is a air pump) the more air/fuel you get to it the more air,,/ power it puts out. ,,,intake =more air =more power jim

I did mine the same way when I got the TVT250 mod and I've never had any water get in the intake. Now, if you drove it straight into a lake, there is a good possibility that you could get some water in there.:eek:
