Good luck having anyone do this. Unless you get 20-30 people lined up, it'll cost a fortune. You forget that the economies of scale don't fit this car very well. Small customer base, out of production and limited manufacturer support. Not three things people want to see when they decide whether or not to build aftermarket parts.

things that make you go uggghhhh....

I have never been a fan of the R171 body lines ever, even on a Mercedes...let along on a half MB/Chrysler frankenstein. However, to each their own.

...also, Lantana, any update on the Turbo V8 build?

You know honestly, not sure about that. Especially since his car (in V6 or V8 version) was setup to recognize boost. The only guy I know that did it to a car that wasn't meant to recognize boost, had to put a mechanical bypass valve on the intake manifolds since the electronic bypass wouldn't work...

...but he also had a ME1.9 ECU not a ME2.1

A couple of the guys on MBworld have installed the AMG V8 SC's on their CLK55's without the use of anything like an fic8.

The nose on the R171 does not get any better with age.

Sorry for the long delay. Been having too much fun with the V8, work and other porjects. As the Texas summer cools off, I will be back on track. I am in the process now of researching the tuning options. It may have paid off to wait. Since Rudy and Paul got the 55K Crossfire running they have found that the 55K ECU has the right options to get my car to start from the key. I have been using a separate starter button. We have checked every possible way to get my car to start from the key and found that there was no V8 MB that uses our switch blade key and a Bsoch 2.8 ECU. Rudy believes the only way to start my car from the key is to use the 55 Kompressor ECU and add boost. So now I am very motivated to add boost! I am still looling at the rear mount turbo and think that is the best option. There is no room for a belt driven supercharger but the 55K supercharger will work but may be a lot more expensive and not give the same results as the turbo. Even with a turbo I must be able to get the charge to the thottle body. There is no room left at all in the engine compartment for the charge tube. The best possibility would be to run the pipe under the car and up in front of the condensor and then through the air opening on the passenger side near the top of the radiator. The advantage to running the pipe this way is that an intercooler can be easily added. I will have to look under the car to see if it can be plumbed this way.
