On a positive note I got some good practice with quickset 50 bonding agent and skimcoat. You cant tell it was ever broken. OH yeah, got a small MB badge off of it too
If its anything like the covers we are using for the NW dual CAI that cutout is for an oxygen sensor (its the MAF sensor not an oxy sensor, thanks James). When I put it on my car one of the things I noticed was a large hole that looked like some type of breather or oil fill cap went there. I asked a Mercedes dealer what went there and he showed me the blow up on the parts screen and it was the sensor with no cover over it. I got a piece of plastic pipe at Home Depot and a cap that fits it, painted it black like the engine cover and stuck it in the hole. Others have used wheel center caps etc. When anyone ask what it is I just make up stuff, "its where the nitro methane goes".

here it is, its off a 2001 e320. As you can see, the side opposite the oil cap has a cut out and is noticably thinner. I was planning on reversing and altering my tvt cai to "flow" on that side but the cover doesnt even seem to align with the mounts

I would say you need to check again, very carefully. There are many other members running that same cover. I know it won't fit the SRT. That cover works perfect for the Needswings single CAI, not sure about TVT.
The cutout you are referring to is for the MAF sensor on the air intake tube.

Take a look at Gary's set up, it turned out very nice ...

If I ever went that way, I would fill the hole, then glass or bondo it smooth and paint like it was never there.

I never thought about that, I could fab a piece out of an old bumper and it looks like I have to cut to allow for the rad hose. I will search to see hoe the needswing filter hose goes through the rad support.
Thanks
Thanks
I think all you are missing is the cut out for the radiator hose. Rob adjusts that cutout before he sends the cover out. It looks like that cover should fit. I snapped the receptical for the rear mount on mine. I found a recessed nut and screw gizmo and screwed it to the cover. I think that cover should fit. If you have a dremel try removing some of the platic around the radiator hose. That should help.
I also ground off the Mercedes lettering, it was a bit too much Mercedes in your face for me. Sanded that area smooth and then sprayed it with a Black texture paint.

I showed it to the painter who did my last cover, he sugested either plastic welding a piece to fill the maf sensor hole or somehow setting chrome mesh in it. Hes also got some new skull decals that go with the theme of my car so I might do real flames and some skulls in the fire.
Going to try to fit it up this weekend. Thanks everyone for posting help, I was kinda bummed thinking it wouldnt work but I see it will now. Cool engine cover AND my CAI...2 thumbs up

Just tried several ways to go with the e320 engine cover but its more trouble than I wnat to deal with right now. Tried the stock one and it look cool enough for me.

If anyone wants the other one , PM me to make araingements. I patched the cracks and its ready for paint. Im keeping the mb emblem though

Sucks cause he now doing a skulls and flames project on his mailbox and it looks way cooler than the money theme
just love painters...some of those guys just don't realize just how talented they are. Now, If I just get kid #3, the art major, to learn to air brush, I would be all set...lol...
bump. couldn't stand to see that mb engine cover gathering dust so I successfully patched up the hole in the right side with a piece of old bumper and some quickset 50. Also added another patch to extend it backwards.
Brought it home and it all fits, needs another piece patched on, but looks great along with my TVT CAI. Our painter has been experimenting with various skulls in real flames and that's what I'm going to go for on this engine cover
