Default Require help regarding dash warning light.

Hi all.
New to this forum after purchasing myself an XF last weekend.
Absolutely love it, After chopping and changing cars every 3-6 months over the last 3 years ive found myself a keeper.
Im yet to receive the books for the car as they wernt in the car at the time and need help with what is my only issue so far.
Have done many forum searches but couldnt find anything with pictures.
I believe the attached image is a warning signal telling me i have a light bulb out,
Problem is ive checked EVERY light bulb including the 2 rego lights.
Please advise of any i may have missed or if indeed this is even what the warning signal means.

Much love from AUS

Thats the bulb out indicator.. anybody put LED lights in the car? Just showed up recently (wasn't there when purchased) ? Comes on when car lights are on or shows up later - brake lights?

You can download manuals here..

Back up? ohhhhh reverse? Obviously as in an auto you pass reverse to get to drive.
The XF only has one reverse light correct? If not youve just answered my question but i thought they only had 1.

Thanks for those manuals too, Im sure ill be forever consulting them when tinkering.

Your most welcome.. I'm thinking the "over the pond" models have 1 reverse light and one spot or fog light? Don't quote or hold me to that. And your most welcome on the manuals link! They don't exactly jump out and say "here I am"..

Correct. Left side is reverse light (works fine) and in the exact same position on opposite side is a fog light. All of which work fine which is the ONLY reason i resorted to posting such a noob question.

Stress no longer. And dont i feel like an idiot. Having tried finding the problem bulb with only my own set of eyes using various reflections (haha) i had trouble in the daytime. I went and tried again and being night time now its obvious i have a brake light out. Sorry for having created a thread over this.

Hey it's easy to overlook things.. sometimes putting the sequence of events together help you resolve matters.. Like stepping on the brake to put in drive

But .. Welcome to the club here.. your best source of entertainment .. and some really useful knowledge too..

I recently had a "Light Out" indicator, I checked what I thought was ALL lights, with no problems I could see, than a freind reminded me of the 2 x Number plate lights, and it turned out to be one of them.
I did not think to check both as the number plate was lit up.

Well, the light did it's job, didn't it? YOu knew right away that part of the warning you give other drivers was not working.

This will be your first in a LONG line of questions. Been there.

One warning: DO THE STICKY KEY MOD NOW, and save yourself grief, inconvenience, expense and maybe even time !

Soon, you willl get into the car and the key will NOT turn. You will then have the car towed to a dealer and they will replace the mechanism for around $700.

And it will be a waste, cause in tine, the new part will do it again.

Our fix is to modify the mechanism yourself, takes about 1 1/2 hour (an hour if you are good with tools). You MODIFY the mechanism - as far as I know, NO ONE who has done the mod has had any problems. My car did it to me one month after I got it, cost $90 for the tow home and I had it fixed in about 90 minutes.

Thankyou for your assistance. I can see that dealer repair price fluctuating even more so given the extremely few number of XF's in AUS.
When you say a LONG list of questions, Have you had many dramas with yours?

No, but I've asked about 50 questions and answered about 1,000 on here.

My second challenge in three years and about 40,00 miles of ownership (between two Roadsters) is upon me - a P0400 code, bad EGR. Thinking this will set me back about $300 - not bad.

First challenge was the Ignition key thing.

(OOps, forgot about the trunk lid refusing to open and the top refusing to move, because of a faulty lock solenoid in the trunk lid.. there is a thread here about that. But if yours is a Coupe, don't worry about it.)

I can relate.. when I walked to the salvage yard to get a wheel for a spare (mine had a bolt go through the tire AND wheel on my way to work..See my photo's).. I was somewhat shocked to look inside the 280 I think it was and see so many crossfire related parts. I never thought I'd own a "Chrysler".. knew too many people that had nothing but transmission problems, but this car convinced me to go ahead.. LOL..
