Starter just click click, won't turn the engine
 

I used my XF last wednesday and evething was fine. Parked it in the garage as usual. Friday morning since it was a nice day, I decided to go to work with my XF but the engine would not crank. Just hear cllic, clic from the starter. Jumped in my other car to go to work. Saturday I charged the battery. It was not very long to get fully charged, says about 45 minutes. Tried to start and again clic,clic. I left the keys at run position to check the lights in the dashboard and I noticed that the spoiler was lifting by itself? Never had this before.

The car has 82 000KM or around 51 000 miles on it. All the service maintenace have been done as required. The battery is about two years old. The starter and alternator are original, What could be the problem?

If you are certain your battery is good, sounds like it could be a bad connection somewhere.

Just because your battery is 2 years old, doesn't mean it can't be defective. The spoiler problem is usually always a low voltage issue.

I had this problem, it was my battery. I kept convincing myself it wasn't the battery but in the end it was and I felt like a dummy. :(

It could be the battery but it could also be the cables on the battery or the connections of the battery cables to the frame, the starter or to the battery itself. Battery cables can have corrosion inside the cable insulation and be unseen.

Try another battery on this car or try this battery on another car, you never know.
