Default new spark plugs & wires

I have done research and can't find when I should give my srt6 a tune up. Its going on 59k. I don't know when the last tune up was because I bought it used. I am due for oil change at 60k and was wondering should I do a tune up too.

OK. I have a set of new NGK Iridium plugs gapped at .039 and I guess it would be smart to replace the plug wires at the same time. I believe Bosch is OEM, but I'm seeing Karlyn, Standard, Prenco, and other brands and was wondering which would be the best value for my stock SRT-6?

Well, I saw Rob was selling the OEM Bosch which have the metal jackets, and Magnecor which don't. I decided to stay with the Bosch as I like the idea of the metal heat shields. I got them at PartsGeek for a bit less though, $134.

New plugs at 100,000 miles
Rudy said no need for new wires on mine at 100,000 and in fact said OEM wires are better than most any replacement wires
I trust Rudy as the authority of Crossfire advice...if he knows how to transplant a V8 into four of them and works for Mercedes Benz I have no reason to doubt what he tells me

We need a Rudy around here. I went with the OEM (Bosch). First time changing the plugs for me on the SRT-6, and I'm probably not as good as Rudy getting the wires off without any damage. Plus, the 100+ degree NC heat probably makes it a worthwhile PM move.

HINT: The plugs and wires are easy, if you take the valve covers off.

Got a thousand or so miles before I swap em, but hope to be able to do it just by taking off the coil packs and not have to remove the valve covers. If that doesn't pan out, I guess the valve covers will come off. Thanks.

Of course you can do it by just removing the coil packs, but if you value your skin, remove the valve covers.
( Also allows you to be sure the new wires connect to all 12 plugs securely )

When I first installed my Magnecor's, I did it with the valve covers on, a couple of years later I swapped out for black crinkle painted covers and checked all the wires while the covers were off.
4 out of 12 were not fully seated.
Those Magencor's are squiggly suckers !

Using one of these is a big help getting the wires off without destroying them. Mercedes Benz Spark Plug Wire Remover tool V6 and V8 ? Kommen Tools Inc.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

Bought mine last year after reading a sale thread, and the MB swivel spark plug socket, posted by "grip grip."

Best money ever spent!

Yeah, I've seen that thing. Hoping to get by with the tools that I already have, but if not, another back up plan. Thanks.
