Default Silver Lower Front Grill Pics

1 or 2 more to come soon. They were taken with a camera phone so the quality is kinda lousy. In real life the silver is more vibrant looking.

Another picture.

You can see this one looks a lot better. The silver really stands out and makes the front end look even nicer. Before I painted them silver, I hardly even noticed the front lower grills.. On the xfire, it's just not noticable, especially on a black one. By painting them the same silver as the rest of the trim, it really adds an extra dimension to the front end. I'd recommend it for anyone..

Also notice no front license plate.. How much better does my xfire look, vs a stock one with a front license plate? Ughhh.

Looks good but I have a problem with the way the holes look on the right side. I think Chrysler put them there for removing the grills. It would look much better if it was the same on both sides

Better yeah but "much better"? I don't think so.

That hole is hardly noticable. I don't think people look at the front of my car and think about how much better it would look with an extra tiny hole on the left lower grill. lol

It's really not even noticable when looking at the car as a whole.

I disagree....the holes are VERY noticeable. To each his own...thats why mine will stay black.

Just a thought. That extra hole is for the temperature sensor that hangs in behind.
What do you think about painting the tip of that sensor silver as well. Do you think it
would affect the function of the sensor. If not, I wouldn't think the hole would appear
as it does now. Other than the 'hole' appearance, I like the look of the silver.

What kind of paint did you use that you would have confidence in not coming off after a few car washes, etc.?

You just pop the grilles out, so you dont have to tape it up, and paint the sensor.

My buddy painted it the exact silver of the xfire trim.

Any bodyshop could do a small peice like this for about $50.

It won't wash off.

I'll be honest and say that you guys are going REALLY too far about the hole.. Trust me, I've noticed it, but when your looking at the car, you don't really notice it whatsoever, unless you are totally examining it the grill up close, like you guys are doing from my pics. When your looking at the car, its the whole package that matters.. nobody is going to get up close and personal with my lower front grill. Its like one of those dings you get, that you can't ever see, unless you know exactly where/what to look at. Sure, your the owner, you know where that ding is. You know where that scratch or whatever is. But 99% of people won't ever notice it.

Sorry the grilles dont look good and the car doesnt look good because of the holes. Sorry.

Just kidding, give me a break all talk about those little holes that we all have on our cars, yea I notice it because I have one and noticed it a few days after I had it but for someone too look at the car they wont even think of looking there. They would see the bottom and say $hit that front looks nice. The grilles do look real good , debating if I should paint mine silver or white??? I dunno if the silver would look right on the white? what do u think?

Hmmm... I dunno.. white would definately look better than the plasticy black, but they wouldn't be as noticable as if they were painted silver. Hmmm. How do you like the look of the silver on white around your windshield? I think silver and white probably looks hot.

My vote:

I think silver would look best. It's not like your car doesn't have silver trim all over it, so it wouldn't be out of place. White would definately look hot too though, but wouldn't stand out as much, in fact it might be less noticable than the black. So thats why I'm going silver.

You can always paint one of them silver, one of them white, then install and take a look at the car from either side. Then you'd just have to repaint one of them, either way you choose.

Guys,
I painted my lower grilles about three months ago, and if a couple of you want them painted I'll do it for you for really cheap. I used to work for a custom paint and body shop for two years. We painted, mostly Euro Cars, racing helmets, motorcycles ( Frames, Sub-Frames, & All the plastics for the Synergy Racing Team.) We did individual bikes as well, but that team....boy did they keep us busy. They crashed a lot. Let me know either way. Its really not a great hardship for me, and I'd like to help out a fellow Crossfire owner.

That's an offer I almost could not refuse. After looking at your car and thinking about having to put front license plate on mine (in Ontario, it's the law) I decided it's not worth it. The license plate would definitely take away the improved appearance of the grills. It's a great idea and I would be surprised if DC did not make this change in the future (that is if the car survives).

I eat license plate tickets for breakfast. So far I've been lucky and I haven't gotten any in the Crossfire, but I got them ALL THE TIME in my old Eclipse GS-T you can see right in my avatar pic. License plates just look nasty, and its not like I'm a criminal.

I actually went on a job interview a couple months back and after they did my background check they wanted to know "Why do you have so many 'ficticous' license plate tickets?".

I was like WTF are you talking about.. But then I found out that under NJ law the ticket is actually for "Falsified, Improper or Ficticous License Plate". Pretty bad sounding huh. I didn't get the job. But I did get a better one.
