NOS please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There has to be a way to get a nos kit that can be run with some level of reliability. This is the best bang for the buck I can think of. If anyone knows of a plug and play kit let me know.
www.nitrousexpress.com i put a kit on my previous Miata and it was great. www.nxmx5.com they're alot of fun if you do it right. but abuse it and youll be stuck with a paperweight.
do some research before you run out and buy one. they have many generic kits: domestic/imports, 4-cyl, 6-cyl, dry vs. wet, etc. If you have any questions id be more than happy to help.

I have looked into the nitrous more in depth since my first post. Epyon, why do you recomend direct port as aposed to dry. My xfire is a lease and Im planning on drilling my custom intake and shooting a 55 dry shot. I would greatly apreciate experienced advice on this subject. This with the intake and an exhaust in my opinion is the best bang for my buck. I tried to trade in my lease in for a srt but they said without 5g,s down no go. I really like the looks and handaling just need a little more kick when i punch it.
I have been looking into this also Nitrous that is. A zex system would suffice and around a 50 shot would be good. I'm guessing with a 50 dry shot you would be able to pull a high 13, and talked to a few reliable car guys that run n02 and they said a 50 shot would cause no problem. Just need to talk a bit more incase i blow my engine, on what i need to do to cover it up. If an 89 SHO can handle a 50 shot a brand new MB should be able to.
Only thing nitro is good for though is racing, thats why i am holding off. I want powering all the time, can imagine spraying everytime i really want to get on it. Geez. And there are no really other true power adders,

I was considering the zex aswell. But I'm not sure if it will work with drive by wire. I'm not planning of spraying all the time, so I dont think I will end up with a paper weight. Just a quicker crossfire.
a dry shot is going to make a paperweight alot faster than a wet shot. for the guys considering it, why a dry shot... easier to install? costs?
a dry shot (nitrous gas only), whether its direct port or sprayed before the throttle body, increases the combustion temp considerably. a wet shot (nitrous gas + gasoline) offsets the added oxygen by introducing more fuel into the mix. it was almost counter-intuitive when i first learned about it, but the gasoline actually cools off the combustion temps. it makes car run richer (cool) as opposed to lean (hot). a rich car will at most produce a dirty exhaust pipe, if not done in excess. A lean car will make more power, but you will soon start melting pistons and combustion chambers if youre not careful. bad news.
I would not do a direct port injection; stick to a nozzle inserted right before the throttle body hat creates a og of nitrous gas and gasoline. its alot easier (and more reversible) to drill through your two air intakes than it is to be drilling into the intake manifold plenum.
I would agree you could pull off a high 13 with a 50 shot. i went from a 16.0 second Miata to 14.5 with a 50 shot wet NX kit, and I,H,E.
Theres tons of options on triggering the gas... manual buttons in the car, automatically based on throttle position and RPM, etc. there are also tons of safety switches... low fuel pressure cutoffs, WOT switches, etc. and then theres all the accessories that you can add... bottle heaters, bottle pressure gauges, fuel pressure gauges, a/f meter gauges, etc.
One last thing, and it might be the most important
dont call it NOS, NAWS, etc. its nitrous. youre not vin diesel. those movies really gave nitrous a cartoon appearance.

Your definitely right, I know that the wet shot are less damaging than dry. It was the simplicity of the dry install, that and the lower price made dry inticing. But maybe a custom wet shot right before the throttle body can be fabed for a decent price. Thanks for the input.
