Car Turned Off While Driving, Engine Wont Crank
Hello all,
Left my house in my crossfire today after it had been sitting in the garage for 3 weeks. Car started just fine but just as i left my neighborhood it felt like the car was about to stall as i was accelerating between 20-40 mph.
I was a little worried but kept driving and sure enough the car died as i braked for a red light.
Now the engine doesn't even crank and when i have the key in the on position, the engine fan runs at full speed for some reason.
Any ideas? All help is greatly appreciated!
Car is 04 autostick with 80k miles. Battery is about 3 years old and needed a jump a few months ago.

It's your battery or alternator, most likely.
these cars do like to be jump started.
A weak battery would give you a wimpy engine.
Did you spoiler go up for no reason? a sure sign the battery is weak.

Well, I will give a few ideas to look at and you can go from there. A weak battery can cause this to happen. Not enough juice, so to speak, to run the motor. There are other possibilities as well. But it could be as simple as the battery. If the battery doesn't fix it, then I would go to the Relay Control Module next. The RCM as we refer to it, has some bad solder joints that have to be re-soldered, and there is a "how-to" on here to help you with that. This condition usually happens after the motor is warm/hot from driving. Once it cools down, the car will sometimes start and run again. Let us know what happens....
I pulled the fuse for the spoiler motor so it wouldn't have came up.
If the battery is weak then wouldn't it be unable to start the car just 10 minutes before?

And don't overlook that the battery may be weak because the alternator is not charging it.
You want to see 12.5 volts with engine stopped, 14.3-14.8 with it running.
