PO410, RCM seems Good, Air Pump works when Jumped ????

Had bad fuel pump relay and secondary air pump system cel. Sent RCM to DJ to have Fuel Relay and Secondary Air Pump Relay replaced, He resoldered and did horn mod. Looks great. Air Pump will come on if I close the contact on the relay. This is what it did before DJ replaced it. Had guessed bad relay. Seems not. I have checked all visible wires, battery state of charge, ground. Jumper pump off battery, it works fine. While rare, I hoping it is not the PCM. I have 90 days to get this cel fixed before inspection. Any help would be great. This issue may require an expert with the necessary scan tools. I open for suggestions and a road trip.

What happens if you place a ground on Pin 38 of connector 4 on the PCM ?
( This is what activates the air pump relay )
1. Make sure you have 12v on connector E pin 5 or connector A pin 3 of the RCM.
2. If that makes the pump run, then the PCM is at fault.
3. If it does NOT make the pump run, then you have faulty wiring.

If you reset the code does it come back immediately?

Mine would throw the code 3-4 times per year. Reset and good to go for a few more weeks. I suspected the one way check valve in the system but never needed to dig very deep because it was so infrequent.

ala_xfire,

Grounded pin on #38 (Brown/Violet wire) on connector # 4. Secondary Air Pump started right up. Checked every connection, tried again. Yup PCM. What kind of options do I have. Should I start a new thread on replacing PCM options? FYI: KDW4Him, this issue was not intermittent. Thank you ala_xfire for your help.

Yes. If I reset the codes the return after the PCM cycles. I 've checked everything, it is the PCM.

Followed ala_xfire instructions. Grounded pin # 38 on PCM connecter # 4. Secondary Air Pump fired up. Will start a new thread on options for replacing a faulty PCM.

PCM? or RCM, Relay Control Module?

If you search p0410 here you will see several things can cause it. The cheapest is the check valve. The most expensive is the pump. With the history of the RCM being the common point stick with it till you have fully eliminated it as a cause.

Unless Rudy decides to chime in, then that will be no one, since Josh doesn't talk to us anymore.

Are new PCM's plug and play ? Anyone get one rebuilt ? Some of these ECU repair places look shady. Anyone have any recommendations ?

Re: PO410, RCM seems Good, Air Pump works when Jumped ????

I need to replace or repair my PCM. Most failures have occurred durring the Federal Emissions Warranty and few if any members have had to do it on their own. It seems that many of the PCM/ECU exchange or repair shops have mixed reviews. I would like any input from anyone with advice or a positive experiance with particular vender.
