how do you completely disable traction control?

on a mission to find a way to completely disable the traction control on my 04 n/a, ive read other threads that said to remove I think the 17&18 fuses but those are non existent on 04 models as far as I know(at least on mine), someone else said its on the bcm under the shifter. id like to wire a switch to it so I can turn it on and off, so does anyone have any insight into this which fuse or wire/plug I need to access to completely turn off the traction control? does anyone know where I can find a schematic for the bcm? thanks.

if you are trying to drift the car you will want to unplug the yaw sensor

My yaw sensor is connected to a switch for that purpose, its located rearward of the shifter under the carpet. Woody:D

Now I'm confused. I thought there was no way to totally disable traction control/stability control without pulling a fuse and disabling both + abs.

Can someone clarify? I definitely want to disable tc/stability but keep abs. Not on the streets.

Re: how do you completely disable traction control?

So the yaw sensor in the steering wheel needs to be unplugged?

Can we get more info on this. I wonder if we could make a module to fool the system.

Re: how do you completely disable traction control?

The yaw sensor is NOT in the steering wheel, it is under the center console.

But will unplugging the sensor let you spin the tires as much as you want? with tc off?

will any light come up on the dash?

Re: how do you completely disable traction control?

No personal experience, but others may know.
The ABS communicates with it via CANBUS and there are a dozen or so P codes listed,
so I imagine at least a CEL light and probably ABS too.

Re: how do you completely disable traction control?

No idea how this particular car is set up but usually the ABS and TCS are using exactly the same sensors and same computer so disabling TCS by pulling a fuse will probably also kill ABS.

Re: how do you completely disable traction control?

I have a switch on the yaw, when it is on the abs light is turned on, why do you want spin your tires?

I had a phantom grip and later went with the wavetrac (sp) for traction!
