Cooling fans won't stop running with car turned off

Hi, new to this forum.
I have an 04 Crossfire. The cooling fans weren't turning on, at low or high speed, so I replaced the 50 amp fuse. Now the the fans are running full blast and wont turn off even when the car is off, unless I unplug the battery or the radiator fan control module. I'm thinking to replace the relay fan control module, but wondering if anyone has any other ideas of what the problem might be? I read something about the cooling fan controller, but I haven't been able to locate it under the hood or figure out how it fits into the circuit. Feedback much appreciated!
*also no codes are being shown by OBD
thanks so much!

My radiator cooling fan will not come on. I replaced the fan control module today and nothing changed! Looking for heip!

Has to be a bad fan module. Follow the wires from the fan motor over to the module on the fender. THAT is the module you need.

If the engine is not warmed up past 200F, the fan wont run unless you turn the A/C on, then it should run at a low speed. If it simply wont run, it has to be:

Bad fan motor
Bad Fan controller module
Blown 50A fuse to controller

I dropped my crystal ball the other week so I cannot see what the problems are. ;)

Thank you for the response! I get the part on Thursday, fingers crossed this solves it.

The only way it can NOT be a bad fan module, is if the ignition feed to the fan module is always hot.
I don't see how that line can be hot all the time without a LOT of stuff still being on - he would see that.
The ignition feed to the fan module is from splice block 101:

Re: Cooling fans won't stop running with car turned off

Hi,
So after replacing the 50 amp fuse, the fans turned on but wouldnt turn off even with ignition off. So I replaced the the fan module, bingo, problem solved, fans turning off and on as they should. Buuuut then the other day, car is running for 20 minutes, fans quit again. I believe the 50 amp fuse is blown again, ordering a new one today, hopefully the new fan module isn't ruined. I think possibly a short in the wire from the 50 amp fuse to the fan module, causing it to try and drawn too much to the fan module. Also my friend suggested maybe the voltage regulator in the alternator is faulty, as I'm having other blown fuses (2 that control the radio), charging system peaking inappropriatly, intermittently causing too much load to fuse blowing circuits.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
-thanks

Everything and I mean everything has a sequence. Dont forget to check the current draw on the fan motors. In other words start at the other end!!

Just my opinion.

Best of luck, safe driving.

WHy not just measure the voltage at the load end of the fuse and KNOW if it blew?

If there is a short to ground in that line, it won't harm the fan module, it will just blow the fuse.

Well if we had a simple voltmeter on the dash we'd know if system voltage is too high. It is certainly possible for the system voltage to be too high - keeping an eye on system voltage with one of the cigarette-lighter voltmeters would be a good idea. You can also try simply measuring system voltage with teh engine idling and also at, say, 2500 rpm - see if it is stable and below about 14.5

Re: Cooling fans won't stop running with car turned off

Why all the reference to ‘fans’ and not just fan?
Are there more than one engine fan on this car?

I would be curious the amp draw on the fan motor. James

When you say fan module, any chance you mean the voltage regulator, 3 inch long metal device with fins sitting in the passenger footwell? I’ve had to replace mine twice due to water damage due to overflow from the windshield coming in the fan area. I have a new module but havnt put it in, problem is fan doesn’t go full speed and jumps around, untill today I noticed the fan just will not turn off ever. I’m hoping this module is the fix.

Before you install anything, I would recommend that you clean your drains under the windshield cowl. They're probably clogged and the water flows in the passenger side by the blower motor.
There are a few videos on you tube that show how to do this or you can search the forum.
