Default removing cover on heater control valve's

I would like to paint those ugly covers on the heater control valves. The two that are in the engine compartment right by the relay control module and the battery. There are two screws on each cover but I have reservations on removing them until someone in the know can tell me it is safe to remove them. My concern would be if removing the cover's to paint them would possibly mess up (very technical term) the heater control valves. If anyone has removed them, could you let me know if it's OK.

Thanks,

Jim

Ala_xfire ( George) painted his red CLICK and I just polished mine.

I am not too sure if they leak when opened if they are working fine. The valves that have failed do leak.
If I remember correctly, I loosened the screws and they did not leak.

Thanks Dave. Polishing looks good too. They just look bad after 15 years of oxidizing.
