HELP!!! - Car won't start and I get a clicking noise when I turn the key.
Hello guys!
Young Brit here looking for the forums wisdom on what may be wrong with my Crossfire. I have a 2006 Manual Coupe with about 90000 miles on the clock. Was sitting in a garage over lockdown and when I came around to picking it up I had the limp mode issue. (Symptoms: Wing stuck up, ESP/BAS light, Handbrake light, Brake light, no speedo) I got my ABS pump changed and stuck in a new battery which solved most of my issues apart from the ESP/BAS light. I thought I would let a couple of paychecks land and then set on diagnosing that beauty of a problem. Been driving fine till now. Unfortunatelly today I went to start the car and all was fine till I went to turn it over. It produced a repeating clicking sound and all my dash lights and interior lights kept flashing. When I stopped trying to turn it over, there was a clicking sound coming from the right side of the engine bay (could have been from ESP module/ Fuse box/ maybe deeper in the engine) then I noticed that my interior lights (both front and boot one) kept flashing on and off. The mysterious ticking sound stopped after I could smell something sort of burning for a few seconds. After that nothing. No ticking sound no nothing. I tried to turn it over again but nothing. Disconnected battery and reconnected, but nothing. I just get that repeating clicking sound. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love my Crossfire so much and it would pain me to see it go over this. Best regards, George |

My first action would be to remove the battery, have it tested at a reputable shop. Check back with us. James

As James said, it sounds like a failed battery. The burning smell may be due to loose/corroded battery terminals - not sure what else to attribute that to.

Check the main cable going to the starter for tightness,...both ends of the cable.
