Hey! Thanks a bunch! One question on digit 6, which in my case is a 6. The decode shows a "5" stands for "premium" but does not show what 6 stands for.

Robby,

There is something wrong with the chart you have attached. It shows that the crossfire VIN starts with a "4" but every Crossfire VIN I've ever seen starts with a one (1).

I believe the "6" designates the car as an "SE" edition, which is a "Base" Roadster with SRT6 wheels and offered in Blaze Red only.

Re: Decoding x-fire VIN

If the Crossfire is mfg in Germany, how come it doesn't start with a "W"
BMW: WBA....
Audi: WAULT......

North American codes are usually 1,2,3

Anyone know why?

I thought "6" in the 6th VIN position is for a "Limited".

Re: Decoding x-fire VIN

Hmmm. interesting and somewhat confusing. I believe the 1 in the first digit really means "made for -- market" meaning 1 for US market. If you look at the 11th digit, which is "X" indicating the Osnabruck Germany assembly plant.

Still confused about the 6th and 7th digits tho.

This file might explain a little better on page G-28.

Robby, Thanks for that PDF. Explains a lot...all except for position 7, which shows possibilities of 3, 6, 7 and 9. Mine is 5 in that position. No biggie tho, thatnks again!

The 5 is for a 2 dr. convertible, yours is a convertible isn't it?

One more wrinkle to iron out. There is no location code for Affalterbach, Germany. AMG plant. Isn't that where SRTs were assembled, or did they source parts from there?

The 11th digit x is the assembly plant. Maybe the car was made in one assembly plant and the AMG motor and tranny put in at Affalterbach, or maybe they sent the motor and transmission over to Osnabruck where the car was made.
