I'm not sure that it can be turned off completely, but I believe there was mention in the manual (or somewhere???) that the time could be adjusted by the dealer with their programming tool. Finding someone at the dealer that knows how to do it is probably another story.

also has anyone notices if their running lights are on driving

Daytime Running Lights (Where Applicable)
VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
The low beam headlights, parking lights, side marker
lights, taillights and license plate lights are automatically
switched on whenever the vehicle is started and the
transmission gear selector is in a driving position.

DRL's are required in Canada and in some countries oversea's. My full headlight system comes on as soon as you move it out of park.

Starscan.

I was also able to deactivate the panic button and that retarted timed auto-lock that happens 30 seconds after you leave your keys in the car.

Nothing like having your brother borrow a multi-thousand dollar peice of diagnostic equipment from the dealership for a night. :D

I've never seen a XF with DRL. Don't think we have that feature in our cars. Anybody out there have this feature on theirs???

Canadian Crossfires have daytime running lights.

The lights are on only if you had them on when you were driving is what I have noticed. I dont always have mine lights on so this only happens at night and when I go to work early i noticed they stay on for little bit then go off.

Re: HeadLight's ON when parking turning engine off

Found out the cure to that problem last weekend. My lights were shinning into my neighbors house and I had been trying to figure out how to not be an annoying neighbor. After several attempts at different sequences this is what works.
1. put vehicle in park
2. turn your headlights off as you would normaly
3. turn off your car as normally
4. get out of your car
5. lock your doors with the key fob before you shut your door
6. shut your door and the lights will not come back on:cool:

This is totally false and was never corrected in the owner's manual. This defeats the whole purpose of daytime running lamps which automatically engage the hig beams at 50% intensity while driving and nothing else. No other exterior lighting is engaged through DRL.

I am afraid this is totally correct ,the daytime running lights as fitted to Canadian Xfires are exactly as in the book. There is no half power high beams as you say. You cannot select high beams until you switch the lights on. You can flash them but not put them on. You can legally drive at night with the DTR lights.

I'll let you know. This Sat the dealership will be programming the DRL on the Crossfire and they had to order a module to do so. I asked the dealership and they said only the main headlights will turn on. Boy will they be in for a surprise if all of the exterior lights go on.

I will have to try this, but my question is whether the alarm will arm itself when you shut the door? Most cars with remote locks will not arm the alarm if you lock the car and any door, the hood, or the trunk/hatch is open.

Re: HeadLight's ON when parking turning engine off

Try this......works everytime.....

1. Turn off the lights.
2. Turn off the engine.
3. Once engine stops, cycle the key from off to on for a second (ON...NOT START), then back off and remove the key.
4. get out of the car like you normally would.

The lights shouldn't be on. Basically the lights will stay on for a minute as a "courtesy" if they were on when the car was running..

By cycling the key, the car thinks the lights were off when the engine was running so it won't turn the lights back on. :D
