had to boost crossfire as it sat over the winter .... nephew attached cables wrong and battery toast .... changed the battery .... radio doesn't work ..checked fuses under hood and they seem fine.. don't know if another fuse is behind radio in the dash ... also main concern is on the instrument panel the rad light stays on .... any suggestions would be appreciated ....i don't know if there is a way to preset the computer or not. i'm thinking i may have to go to dealership and get computer re-programmed ..... any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated .... it's '05 coupe

DO NOT GO TO A DEALERSHIP!!!!!! 99.5% can no longer work on your car as they DO NOT have the old DRB III system to run diagnostics. Chrysler has gone to a new system which is not backward compatible to the Crossfire. ARE YOU listening?? Do Not go to a dealership!!
What exactly is wrong with your car?? Your first post does not give specific information?
SO the radio doesn't work and the radiator warning light is on? Have you have started and driven the car for 20 miles and those are the only problems??
DO NOT go to a dealership; That is another problem that is never ending and very expensive.
Listen to 180, he is very knowledgeable on the Crossfire and pizzaguy is very good on electronics.

 

yes ... drove it for way more than 20 miles and there seems to be nothing else wrong .. just the rad light staying on

 

Check your coolant level. Is it near the top of the reservoir?
Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes ( most auto parts stores will do it for free) write that DTC number down. Get the exact number. Then clear that code. If the code is cleared it may turn the warning light off.
Does the fan work? Turn on the A/C and check if the fan runs.

some one had sent me a message telling me to turn key to the on position step on brake for 4 seconds then turn key to off position, wait 2 minutes then start car ... tried it but did not work ... went back to check message again and now cannot find it .... does anyone have other suggestions because was also told to not take to dealership ...

This problem seemed to have occurred a number of years ago for a bunch of folks. Pizzaguy had the best diagnostic protocol for figuring out what is wrong.

I believe there is a fuse in the back of the radio, I'm almost sure of it. Get the radio removal tools at Walmart and yank it out and look

As to the "general cooling system alarm light", grab a voltmeter and test for 12 volts on both sides of the 50 amp fuse in the little fuse box next to the battery, that feeds the Fan Control Module. Sounds like the Fan Module is not responding to the ECM. If the fuse is blown and a new fuse blows right away, replace the Fan Control module.

I am replying to you since we have the same crossfire srt6, same color too. Mine roadster 38K miles.
I have the rad light problem. I can not find the 50 amp fuse.
There is a 40 Amp fuse in the referenced box for the "air pump" and I have yet to find
the 50 Amp fuse for the fan even in the SRT owner manual. My coolant level sensor may be
ok since level is fine and I jumperd it and that had no affect on light so i assumed it was something else.
I inspected the fan and it is free but does not turn on when AC is started. I pulled the FNC harness
and it did not show any damage like the burned harness shown. I will try to connect the motor to a battery tomorrow
but i strongly suspect the fan motor since when starting the car a few times I heard a short squeal.
I would like to check the 50 amp fuse if you could help me and directed me to it in our SRTs

There is a small box directly in front of the battery that contains 3 bolt-in fuses, be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable before doing anything.

Thanks for the info.
I tested the fan directly to the battery and it works.
I tested all the fuses (2- 30 amp and one 200 amp) and all are good with 12 v+ on either side of fuse with multi meter.
I also tested the fan by connecting on the load side of the 30 amp fuses. FAN worked. I did not take out the fuse.
Am I now looking for an FMC?

Anyone close to you that you can borrow one from for test before ordering ?

 

Thanks for the help. I am new to the area and recently bought the XFire (April) some distance away.
I found a used FCM on EBAY and I may offer a price to see what happens. I took the FCM out of car but, as yet,
can't open it without a thin extension for a T120 fitting. I seem to recall a thread about repairing an FCM but as yet haven't
relocated it

I ordered a FCM from EBAY, Highline Auto Parts for $39. It arrived today -three days early.
It worked. Rad light went out and fan runs. If not for the great guidance from the forum, I would have purchased a fan.
Thanks again for all the help and ask Pizza man to revise his % for fans failed against FCMs. I raised the FCMs a bit.
