I went 6k miles and 15 months and no wrench. When I tried to reset FSS 4300 or 4700 was displayed. Could that have been the distance to next oil change. I am thinking the the FSS figures oil doesn't go bad in the can.

Is it because the oil is refreshened, or I haven't hit 15K, I am thinking maybe it just hasn't met the criteria to set it off yet. Any thoughts out there folks?

What number comes up? I am sure that the number must be a minus one now. I am sure that when a service is due the computer will tell you if you have reset it or not.

13,000 miles seems like way too long to me, it should have indicated by now.

Press the button twice and see what number comes up, see how long it THINKS you have to go.

I think it's a closed system in that the computer measures miles and resistance of the oil (and maybe other factors). Sure seems odd you got that far, but I know I changed my oil the last time at just over 6,000 miles and the FSS still showed 4100 or 4400 miles ! If you drive "right" it does not alarm at 7,000, it STARTS at 7,000 but it does not just count down for every mile driven, it "computes" the "effective" oil mileage.

Personally, I ain't going over 5,000 miles when I can help it. It's just me, and no, talking to me is a waste of time.

Maybe Rudy knows if they can mess with the FSS, but I"d bet money they can't.

It should noted that the FSS only attempts to insure that the oil remains at an acceptable level of degradation up to being changed. This could be a far cry from new M1 in velocity, detergents and anti wear characteristics.

Can anyone provide analyses for old oil replaced at FSS interval?
