Dust filter

In reading the owners manual it indicates the cabin dust filter is "in the passenger foot well" anybody out there changed that before. Any suggestions. I quickly looked under the dash area in passenger foot well area but did not readily notice access to HVAC dust filter.
thanks

Re: Dust filter

All you have to do is remove the two screws securing the perforated panel in the passenger footwell, then push back on the lip under the glove box trim piece. The dust filter cover will be on the left side secured by two yellow-green slider clips. Push the clip closest to the firewal toward the firewall, and pull the one closest to the glove box toward the passenger seat, drop the cover and pull out the dust filter. Part # is 5101438AA and I paid $39.00 here in Cali.

Good luck!

Re: Dust filter

You have to replace the dust filter whenever the FSS indicates service is due and the double wrench is showing. Don't know if you can get the filter anywhere but DC.

Cabin air filters are available everywhere...
Needswings.com,
ebay,
any of the mopar/chrysler online sites.
Inspect it before decideing to replace it - how often do you use your HVAC?
You DO NOT have to replace every time the FSS is due.
If your air starts to smell stale, or smell like pickles - it needs changing (or use more deodorant!).

Hi gals and guys,
The cabin filter in our XF is exactly the same as the one in '03 MB SLK320. You can get activated charcaol filter at your local auto part stores made by BOSCH Part # C3870 for about $35.00 or at RockAuto.com for a little less.
Cheers and enjoy your XF.
