Code showing up that doesn't exist?
Hey all, I've got a stumper. I've got a 2004 Crossfire with 4500 miles on it. it started to sputter when it is cold outside when I started it up, and was not switching gears correctly (automatic). I took it in to the dealer, and since then (a week now) they keep saying that they are getting a code to come up that no one knows what it is. The mechanic (technician), the Chrysler repair hotline, the engineers, and even the engineer team in Germany cannot tell what is wrong with the car, because the code that the car is giving "doesn't exist". In the meantime I have Chrysler paying for my rental car. Does anyone have any idea about what they would do next if they were me?
Thank you, Steve slick313@hotmail.com |
Re: Code showing up that doesn't exist?
Either wait it out with your current dealership or take it to another. It certainly seems engine / computer related, sounds like they should try a new ECU. Sadly lots of new cars are performing more and more like Windows PC's everyday... :)
Hmm I wonder how I reboot my car... oh yeah, disconnect the battery! |

My suggestion, read up on the lemon law for your state and document everything that happens and how long it takes for each attempt to fix the issue.

Re: Code showing up that doesn't exist?
The Mercedes transmission has a control Unit. It's most likely that the control unit fails.

Re: Code showing up that doesn't exist?
the first thing to do is make sure the mechanic's scan tool has the most recent software update. if not a false code will be recovered
