Pizza's Tech Help Papers
4 Attachment(s)
I've written a few papers with the idea of helping others. I know they are scattered all over Facebook and here on the forum, this is my attempt to place them somewhere I / we can find them easily.
Iv'e received so much free help with my three Roadsters in the last thirteen years, and since I can't turn wrenches very well, I thought I'd "pay back" in the only way I know how. Finding Battery Drain V1 is for those who know how to use a meter and have some experience with electronic/electrical troubleshooting. Finding Battery Drain V3 is for beginners and also contains a lot of 'shorthand' references to the various modules in the car - easier to digest than the service manual. Understanding Your Engine Fan is an attempt to convey enough information for owners to use the behaviour of the engine cooling fan in analyzing what is wrong with the car, in those cases where the fan tends to run full speed at odd times. Removal of your Climate Control Module is provided for those of you who have erratic or almost inoperative blowers in your heat-A/C system. I have an outline written for a fourth and fifth paper. Its winter and even in the DFW area, my Motorcycle AND car are sitting indoors. If I am going to write, it's this time of year I am going to do so. EDIT: Onehundred80, Dave, if you can add these to your links, please do. |
Re: Pizza's Tech Help Papers
A tip of the hat to you. Thanks.

Re: Pizza's Tech Help Papers
Pizzaguy……..that’s quite an undertaking !
On top of a good awareness gained by learning the distribution of various circuits, this should be a must read for all those, who will, no doubt……… over pay a repair shop immensely. thanks much, Pizzaguy ! |
Re: Pizza's Tech Help Papers
Thanks for all of your effort and time.

Re: Pizza's Tech Help Papers
So, thanks to Jeff K in Greenville (He has an SRT that won't start, not the SKREEM, RCM or Battery) I had to dig into the car a bit. I have now decoded the Pulse Module's internal parts and external connections. I've wondered how that damn thing works for over ten years, now I know.
I see another tech help paper in my future: "What to do when the car won't start and it's not the "Mystery No Start", that is, it's not the SKREEM or RCM or Battery". I guess I need a shorter title.................... We are seeing more and more cars refuse to start due to issues other than SKREEM or RCM. Jeff's is one of them. Last one I fought had a bad clutch interlock switch, but Jeff's is an automatic (of course). I suspect we will know what's going on in a few days, when he gets time to take my information from today and apply it. |

Do you recommend changing out the pulse module since it has relays like the RCM?
But in time, maybe we will see more and more failures of the pulse module. In every car, the module has two relays - but the second relay is only used in SRTs to run the coolant pump. Funny, I dont remember any SRT owner saying they had to change the module - and when you think about it, that SRT pump relay is energized for a long time on long drives, where the starter relay is really not exercised that much and only carries the current to pull in the solenoid on the starter. |
Re: Pizza's Tech Help Papers
Thanks pizzaguy. Great publications. Just got my Roadster out of storage after 6 months and am having battery problems.
Battery was charged to 12.53V and after sitting for two hours would not turn over my engine. I'm going to try your procedures tomorrow. I find that Crossfire owners need to pray a lot.... MCPO |

MCPO But electronics - there is where I AM qualified. With all the electrical/electronic issues these cars (and all cars, really) have - I made up my mind to contribute in the way that I can, and leave the rest to the real "gear heads" out there. IN related news, I am rather proud of how I fixed my Ranger when it was acting up - for $94. Took me a week of thinking about what it was doing, and going thru the service manual, but I got it running right, all by myself. Just gotta find a shop to flush the radiator and brakes this year, it's due. |
Re: Pizza's Tech Help Papers
I have added a new one to post #1 about removal of the Climate Control Module to fix the erratic fan speed issue.

I saw the duck first, but I can see the rabbit easily. If it was rotated 90degrees, I'd have seen the rabbit first, tho.
