I’m spending less time on the computer at the moment. When I’m on holiday, I tend to take a break from the screens. I suspect others may be doing something similar.

Hey Steve, Hey Hairy, How was Christmas in Merry old England? I think of all the places I've been London is my favorite. Did a lot of shows on the West end and loved the War Museum. By some freaky accident it was sunny and clear the whole time I was there. The best part was everybody spoke English. The worst part was the exchange rate.

I think a lot of the guys are either out of town or dealing with the holidays. When are both of you coming to the Colonies lol.

Cool Re: Has everyone gone on holiday?

Hi there,

Well its freezing, damp and dull here in England, we are about 120 miles north of London here, I get down there regularly on business and we (my wife and I) go to see most of the West End shows. London is a great place for a few days but its allways good to get back to the countryside!
The £ has dropped a lot against the $ now so its a good time to come!!
Ive visited many parts of the world, but never (yet) made it to the states. I admire the american optimism and the way most americans see life as an oportunity; those are two words not often heard over here!
It was allways my ambition to do Route66 on a Harley; if I ever manage it, guess it might be in a Croissfire now!
All the best!
Steve

Yep, that's my excuse. I get paid to be here while at work. Why do it for free at home?!

Happy New Year all!

Steve, I'm sorry it's damp and dull. But come on, you guys ruled the world. What happened to that we will never surrender Churchill attitude. People over here have gotten rather gloomy too. The living generations have known mostly good times, unlike our parents, who suffered from the depression and WWII. So they don't realize just how good they have it. I guess we have become spoiled. That being said I love America and Americans. My ancestry being British I feel a kindred spirit with you guys as well. Have a great New Year!

Jeff,
Thanks for your kind words, I reckon we are getting nothing but bad economic news on both sides of the pond at the moment, which is going to have long term effects - but hey you are right, we share determination and we are used to being in the game for the long haul. Your right Jeff, we have become spoiled and weve had it easy. Ive just been watching a TV program about the oldest man in the UK, he is 110, and was a founder member of the RAF, decorated after WW1 and WW11. He still visits shhchools and talks to children about his memories; sure puts things into perspective.
Happy new year to you and yours!
Steve

There are very few WWI veterans left here now. I think we have three still alive here.

Imagine having a head full of 100+ years of history. And what a history too. Blimy.

Blimy! I like it! Yes that's pretty amazing. I saw a documentary of the last Vets from our Civil War. Both sides re-enacted Pickett's charge at Gettysburg, which you probably know was a real slaughter of the Confederates. As the Veterans in gray approached the Union lines the Vets in blue ran out of the bushes and hugged their former enemies and everyone cried. It was very touching!

what's with this talk of holidays !!! I have only had xmas day and boxing day off and was working until 23:40 xmas eve ! Bloody busy here delivering beer to all those thirsty people in the pubs up and down the land. I've got the first week of in January to recover....

So, if I can enourage all you folk on holiday to visit your local hostelry and drink some of that beer we have worked so hard to deliver, just for you.

I'm writing this from my desk grabbing 5 minutes to look at the forum and hoping I get a quiet evening when our business shuts down late evening and restarts 14:00 on new years day !

Bah humbug...

Paul

Must admit I have been away one week in California (only saw one coupe) followed by 3 weeks in the Canaries (no Crossfires) but at least no frost, but now back at work bit of a shock but am sure I will get over it
