Default UK Crossfire Meets - 2011

We have arranged a comprehensive and varied programme of UK
Crossfire meets for this year. This will be our fourth year of meets and
they are growing in both popularity and number. The big emphasis for
2011 is on variety. As well as the car fanatics among us getting our
chance to see plenty of action, there are plenty of other great places
to visit and things to do this year, hopefully providing something for
everyone.

For the first time we have included the opportunity to take our cars
over the channel to mainland Europe and to Belgium to take part in
a Classic & Contemporary Sports
Car Rally based in Brugges.
Please get in touch by email should you
have any questions about the meets,
meanwhile, the following is a
summary of our programme for 2011.
The full details, along with any
updates will appear in our website soon.

29th & 30th January 2011
Our rescheduled “Xmas” lunch meet at the Windmill Carvery, Burford
is booked and if you haven’t done so already, please confirm your
attendance, as soon as possible, and in any event before bookings
close on 22nd of Jan. We are chasing bookings as numbers are now
down a little. Lunch is booked for 1.00pm, with arrival at the venue
from 12.00. There is a big car park and we will be there waiting to
guide you into a parking space. Those arriving on Saturday will be
staying at The Golden Pheasant in Burford. Rooms are available from
2pm, with an evening meal booked for 8pm and a leisurely breakfast
on Sunday. Bookings confirmed to date:

20th March 2011
RAF Museum, Grahame Park Way, Hendon, London.
Britain's only national museum dedicated wholly to aviation. The
Museum is situated on the site of the original London Aerodrome, used
for the great Hendon Air Shows between the two World Wars. Five
mammoth buildings contain over a hundred aircraft, artifacts, aviation
memorabilia, covering the history of aviation from early balloon flights
to the latest jet fighters, plus the fantastic displays of aircraft used in
active service throughout the history of the RAF. After meeting up on
site at 11am, we can tour the exhibits’ and take lunch together in the
main restaurant.

17th April 2011
The “Classic and Contemporary Sports Car Tour” takes us to Millbrook
Proving Ground (home of 5th Gear) & Silverstone Racing Circuit for a
fantastic days driving. This event is being organised by a specialist car
tour organiser and there is a charge for entry.
This is a leisurely day out; no racing is allowed! Up to 200 entrants will
gather at the starting point, Frosts Garden Centre, Woburn Sands.
Following the route book provided, Millbrook is our first venue, with
laps in our Crossfires on the thrilling Alpine Circuit. Then a coffee stop
at a great ‘classic’ venue will be taken en route to Silverstone and the
Porsche Experience.
After a thrilling drive in our cars on the Porsche handling circuit there
will be a Hog Roast/Chicken/Salads, at the finish.
As numbers are limited it is strongly recommended to book very early.
The organisers are very keen to have us participate; though E Types,
Astons, TVR’s and Porsches are common sights on this event, there
has never been a Crossfire, so let’s put on show! When booking,
please mention you are a member of the UK Crossfire Group.
The entry fee for the event is £65.00 per car. Bookings must be made
direct to the organising tour operator, MK Classic Car Tours. Event
information and entry forms have already been emailed to all our
members, but can also be downloaded from our web site. We have, to
date, 5 members already booked to attend.

08th May 2011
Chatsworth House, near Bakewell, Derbyshire. We return to
Chatsworth after very successful visit back in 2009. We will plan to
meet in Bakewell Marketplace Car Park on Sunday morning in time to
depart at 12.00 for the short drive together into Chatsworth House
where we can park together.
There are many options for visitors at Chatsworth and if you wish to
tour the house, discounted tickets can be ordered via their website.
There is a good choice of restaurants for lunch or you may wish to
bring a picnic if weather allows.
It so happens that the UK TVR Club will be meeting in the grounds so
some cars to see as well! Additionally, the extensive gardens and craft
shops are well worth a visit.
Should anyone wish to arrive on the Saturday to stay over as
previously, we can advise on accommodation and even organise a Sat
evening cruise out to a nice Derbyshire Dales pub!

11th June 2011 - CICCI Event
Castle Combe Racing Circuit - Classics & Sports Cars Day. This event
started in the 80’s and it continues to be very popular. There will be a
dedicated area for the club to park together to display
our cars along with many other motor clubs in attendance.
Additionally, the owners of cherished cars and owners’ clubs can also
book to take part in special parade laps on the Castle Combe Racing
Circuit, circulating behind a pace car at 20-30 miles an hour. With just
four club groups on track at each time with their own lead car, this
gives the chance for owners and their families to take to the circuit
and stop for a few moments on the finish line for a group photograph.
Details of timings and maps etc will follow on our website. Raffle Prizes
and Special Award for Best Presented Crossfire on the day!

10th July 2011
Canal Boats and Lunch at Stoke Bruern, situated just of the M1 near
Northampton. We have arranged for coffee on arrival, a 1 hour Canal
Boat cruise, a 3 course lunch in the Boat Inn Pub on the canal side,
and tour of the Canal Boat Museum. We can expect a great day out at
Stoke Bruern and this will be an interesting addition to our
programme. The price per head is to be confirmed on our website but
will include all the above. Due to the need for advance booking there is
a closing date of 12th June.

31st July 2011
Brooklands Museum. We return to Brooklands again for the “Aero –
Auto Jumble and Open Cockpits Day” We plan to meet at Mercedes
Benz World at 11.00, so allowing time for a visit there before driving
into the Brooklands parking area at 12.00. If possible, we will get the
Crossfires onto the old Brooklands banking for a brief photo
opportunity on the way to the car park. Once inside the Brooklands
Museum site, and depending on weather – we plan to stay together for
a picnic, so come prepared with a blanket and a hamper! Then we can
roam around the many fascinating things to see and watch the aircraft
engine runs and demonstrations.

14th August 2011 - CICCI Event
The Chrysler PT Cruiser Club has invited us again to join them for their
annual gathering at Billing Aquadrome, Northampton. To contribute to
their rising costs in staging this annual event, we have been asked by
the PT Cruiser Club for a £5.00 per car donation this year which is in
addition to the usual £10 gate fee. Though this is a 2 day meet for the
PT’s, the main day for us is the Sunday. (We expect a few of us will be
there for both days & be staying over) We will park our sparkling line
up of Crossfires together, and an award will be presented for the best
turned out Crossfire, along with some great raffle prizes and CICCI T Shirts.

26th – 29th August 2011 - CICCI Members will be issued with Club T Shirts!
A long weekend tour to join the annual Classic Car Festival in Brugge,
organised by classic car enthusiasts in Belgium. On Friday morning we
meet at Dover for the 10.15 Calais ferry and drive the 75 miles to
Brugge, via a scenic route, to our four star hotel. A fabulous buffet

morning we assemble in Roeselare town square for the start of the
scenic tour. Following our tulip route book, we drive through
picturesque towns and villages, finishing in the central square of
Brugge, where the cars will be parked on display. Once parked, you

11th September 2011
Warwick Castle, Warwickshire CV34 4QU. This is one of England’s
premier attractions with lots to see for a great day out. We will meet
you at the entrance at 11.00 and guide you to our parking area where
we will try to keep our cars together. After the usual natters and catch
ups, time will be allowed to tour the Castle before meeting up for lunch
in the restaurant on site. This is fascinating place with displays
portraying life in the Castle through the ages.

02nd October 2011
Santa Pod Raceway Northamptonshire is the home of drag racing in
the UK. By popular demand we have at last arranged to meet up here
for a RWYB “Run What Ya’ Brung” day! This when anyone can bring
along there car and try it out on the famous quarter mile drag strip.
We can choose to be just spectators for the day, but if feeling brave,
test the Crossfires performance on the strip! The only thing you need
to go drag racing at the famous Santa Pod Raceway is a valid UK
driving licence, £10 for admission and a £25 signing-on fee. You'll be
entitled to unlimited runs or as many as your nerves will allow! After
each run you'll receive a personal performance print-out showing your
reaction times to the start lights, 60ft, 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile times and
terminal speed. Definitely a meet for the boys!

04th December 2011
Xmas Lunch Meet. A central location will be chosen close to the M1 or
M40 with main road access for a lunch meet. Details of venue and
menus will be announced nearer the time once a suitable venue has
been booked.

Updates to the above will appear on our website UK Crossfires - For owners of the Chrysler Crossfire in the UK

Hey, hows it going!
We did not go for it as a main meet this time due a lack of interest as we have been so many times before. However if a few of the boys can get there some time for a "mini meet" I'd be up for it - the meets are really the only times I get to go anywhere in the Xfire so any excuse!

Hi Steve

You may remember that I wasn’t able to make to Christmas meet due to it falling on my birthday weekend, but our plans have now changed and we will be there. We were planning to stay in Dorset for a long week end, but that’s now off and we have changed the arrangement to stay at The Lygon Arms Hotel in Broadway for 3 nights. Which isn't far from Burford. So please add me and April to the list.

You're got real style Jon..The Lygon Arms, one of the best hotels in the Cotswolds, and for three days, have a great time.

I hope you're not expecting a card..re the birthday hint?

Lastly, please don't mentioned to Jane where you're been staying....as I've convinced her that on our travels, the Travel Lodge is the "in" place to stay.
