New Owner - Help Please
Hi all, I'm the proud owner of a 2006 crossfire 82,000 miles on the clock.
I absolutely love the car!
I have one issue though. Once the car is nice and warm and particularly after driving fast - I'm experiencing what can only be described as a knock/low pitch tick coming from under the car drivers side. My oil filter is leaking so slightly witch is due to be change with an oil change next week.
I guess my question is; Is this knock / low pitch tick normal? Will it go away once oil filter / oil is changed? or do I have something more serious to worry about?
Please help, I'm a total novice to Chryslers, Mercedes and have never owned a v6.
I'm totally clueless.
Your help will be much appreciated.

Hi Stuie,
welcome to the forum!
Need a bit more info, does the knocking sound happen with the engine on or off, moving or stationary??
It could be one of the injectors? I think they normally make a ticking noise which some people have mistaken for a fault.
Im guessing others will have more answers but as majority of the forum members are in the USA they dont frequent the forum at the same time as us Brits. If you dont get many views here in the UK section you could post it on the main forum.
Good luck
Matt

Definitely need more info. Is the ticking audible while driving or just idlling? With the hood open or closed? Engine on or off?
As noted above, it could just be the injectors. These cars do make a slight ticking noise which I believe are the injectors. However, I only hear mine at idle and it's not audible in most situations.
Hope that's all it is. If so, it's normal.
Good luck.
Mine has always emitted a light ticking noise at idle, its only really noticeable when for example I am in places like the McDonalds drive through inching along with a wall next to me to rebound the sound of the engine and the window or top down, it concerned me at first but listening to it with the bonnet up in an open area its barely audible, I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse.
Thanks for the replies.
On start up no noise apart from a slight whining noise that also happens on acceleration in neutral, but goes away once I drive away - I thought this was normal for a car with this much mileage.
The noise only appears after a 30 - 40 minute drive, then when I park the car that's when I hear it. Can only be heard when sitting in neutral. And is prominent from under the drivers door under the bonnet.
The best way I can describe the noise is that it sounds like a diesel car/van running and not a knock/tick.
And the whining sound sounds like a diesel car/van when accelerating. (not the misses since she is in the house
)
The car drives fine, very fine
Is it just noisy injectors or/and worn engine?

This isn't the car though are you saying this is what your car sounds like (video looks like a late 90's early 00's 3.8 Mustang) can you make a small video of your car and post?
