Paul.. There is an old saying "You get nothing for nothing"


Those attending xfire events arranged by www.ukcrossfire.co.uk have all received the benefits of UKXF meets at zero cost for many years.

Someone had to pay for the current crossfire banners /signage etc.

I think a small yearly contribution as suggested for membership and to purchase club related items is well overdue. I'm certain that most crossfire owners attending meets will feel the same.

Fair point Ken, but the decision to purchase such Items was taken without any consultation with members, I know I for one, and there were others, offered to help pay for the banners and such, but all offers were turned down, ?????


To now try and recoup the money spent by charging a membership fee is wrong!! (in my opinion)


Like someone has said, 400 (claimed) members paying £25 = £10,000 per year, that's an awful lot of banners!!! Ok we all know nowhere near that number will pay the £25 (judging by the feed back I'm getting) and it is not going to encourage any more owners to get into their cars and drive to meets! Which always used to be the aim of ukcrossfires.co.uk in the past.


I am slowly resigning myself to the fact that Crossfire owners, in the main, in the UK, have little to no interest in car meets, which is a real shame!!!

I personally don't have a problem with paying a yearly membership fee, as I get a whole lot of enjoyment from the club in general, espicially the club meets, but Mo has a lot of valid points, the attendance has been going up at meets. but paying a £25.00 fee will deture people that if the weather is nice on the day they mite turn up for the area meet, a lot of us will travel long distance's reguardless of cost's mileage petrol nights out etc, I think but just my opinion it mite make the club too exclusive. not against memberships fees as such, most car clubs have them although the one`s i have belonged to had an initial joining fee and a lower annual fee after that, be interesting to see what we get for our £25, discounts with an insurance company, parts suppliers etc a proper ukcrossfire forum where you are able to post added to the website would be good, will sit on the fence till we have more information on what the benifits will be...will meets be paid up members only? will it make meets a them and us scenario if you decide you dont want to pay your £25...interesting times ahead....:D....chris

The two quotes I have highlighted in red have always been a problem!! Does anyone know what is going on? probably not! has anyone been asked? apart from the limited questionnaire, probably not!!! it's all "secret squirrel" as usual and the little clique will always be there to create the "us and them"


I won't be an us or them as I will not be joining or attending any of their meets, what ever they choose to do, but I really hope that they do it properly and don't just do it half cocked.

Can I ask a question here? What happens to the proceeds from the raffles? Aren't they supposed to help finance the club?

Correction, I started the raffles, we had one in 2007 at our Xmas bash, and Gill has helped enormously and done a great job helping out since she and Mo joined.


The organisers of UK Crossfires have funded the group from their own pockets. Some very kind members have also donated funds. There has never been a committee. In the early days I organised everything with help and support from help from Ken. Over the last 2 years, due to growth in numbers and the increased burden on time and money, more individuals have stepped up to plate, without whom it would have all gone the toilet. This includes the website which has been created and hosted by one of our group free of charge. No committee - just folks who happy get stuck in to make it happen.


No one asked us to buy banners and prizes because they didn't have to. It was done by those committed to the group voluntarily. Currently we are out of pocket to the tune of 100's of pounds, and we are quite happy with that because you only get out what you put in. For me it has been the enjoyment of seeing the group grow from the 5 or six cars when we first met, to the 430 members we now have, and all the great friends made along the way. From that first line - up, just Ken and I are still about.


It is apparent that some folks here are suspicious about how the funds were used. Please call me on 07954 685 044 to discuss this.

Yes indeed, the proceeds from raffles and any other fund raising activity has gone towards the running of the group. We have accounts in place to track income and expenses. That has been the case since the group was started back in Jan 2007. I think at this time I am approx. 300 out of pocket from previous running expenses, and I have just last paid 260 for the new clubs insurance policies..

Yes agreed Chris, you know how clubs work. Ive been looking at what other clubs do, and what membership packages they have/don't have. It seems that the more the fees, the more tat they put in the members pack lol. I believe the membership fee for UK Crossfires Club will be nearer 20 quid for 12 months though, and this is about to be confirmed. I would prefer a simple process without the complications of joining fees, just a fixed membership fee works for me. Folks have been wanting a proper club for a few years now, and some folks have not previously joined because we were not a proper club. You cant please everyone though and even a fiver would too much for some lol

Thanks Jon, yes time flies!; and a few months before that first meet we had both been after buying the same Crossfire, and you beat me to it by 5 mins. I rang Chrysler at Watford to say i'd have it, but you were already there, and had just written the cheque out!

The numbers attending meets has grown dramatically in 2013 with 49 cars at Gaydon. The feedback from Gaydon and the survey carried out was instrumental in taking the decision to form a proper recognised motor club. Otherwise the size of the group and possible further growth was making it impossible to manage without a proper financial and organisational structure

Jon.. Yes a windy day, you may recall its was also raining, and April & Jane shared an umbrella.


Seven Crossfire owner turned out on Sunday Dec 30th 2007. Only Steve & myself remaining from the original number.

I know a few of the UK members are also part of CICCI. One of our newer CICCI directives is support regional groups. Yes, you are correct. It was a wet and windy day. But we were younger then and we didn't care about the weather. On those days, it was rare to see a Crossfire on the roads. Then we all meet up in that car park. Can't remember how many turned up that day. 6 or 7 ?


I've changed my car again. I have another Merc CLK but its the 500 this time. Blue

I don't normally enter into dialogue on the forum but what really is getting on my nerves is some people do not have a clue what time, effort, commitment and personal funds have been instrumental in moving the club forward to its current level. It is not a "secret squirrel" as suggested and I take great personal exception to that comment. Everything that has been and is being done by the committee, both past and present, is for the club's future success.
I have personally paid out over £1,000.00, half of which has been refunded thanks to the generosity of members when we have raffles and the sale of T shirts etc.
I have great pride and enjoyment being a member of the club and I will do whatever needs to be done to continue its success through commitment and positive actions.
