UK Crossfires Club - Any Questions?
If you have any questions about this new Motor Club please post here and I will do my best to answer. Of course there are some items still in progress at this time, but feel free to fire away. Lets keep it constructive and we can all benefit. If you prefer a PM that's fine too. Cheers, Steve

Thanks Paul, like most motor clubs the club meets are provided for paid up members, mainly because these are the folks who's fees are funding everything. The latest hidden cost is the public liability insurance now demanded by the venues we use etc. It would not be fair to have the paying few funding the club for those who don't want to pay. However, we all want new members and new folks can come along to a meet for the first time as a taster, and if they wish to join they can do so on the day, but if not that's fine.
Hope that helps

hi steve ....thanks for your comments on my post re. membership fees on .org i think as soon as the organisers put something in black and white the better, i hope your not taking comments in a negative way but people naturally want to know the details before parting with their hard earned, my main bugbear is the lack of our own forum to keep in touch, although i do realise the difficulties costs, moderators etc, for whatever reason hardly anyone uses .org or ukcrossfire`s facebook page, we enjoy ukcrossfire events especially the weekenders...
...and will continue to do so (unfortunatley we cant do coventry as we have something else on ) ....
....catch up soon chris....by the way the PM facility is not working on your user name...

Thanks Chris. We are just reaching the point where more info can come out now; its taken a little longer to get things properly sorted and I know some info is going out today, and more over next couple of weeks to everyone on the mailing list. We want to have cost of fees to a minimum but I think if we can do it for less than the price of 4 gallons of petrol we should be ok. Some comments in here are nothing but negative but in a forum everyone can voice a personal opinion. I'm more than pleased to deal with any questions but unfortunately the hecklers have nothing constructive or useful to contribute. Please keep the questions coming if anything comes to mind.
I know you are interested in a club forum like the PT's have, and I know some work is being done to look at this. I don't know yet if this will happen in the short term, but will come back on this. Some of our group have looked in at this forum as a guest and given us negative feedback about it saying it was like "snipers alley" I'm not sure that's true, but certainly the use of this forum has declined over the last couple of years. It would be useful to know why, when you consider membership of UKC Group continued to grow.
Cheers S

Yes the numbers using this forum has greatly diminished during the last year or two.
At one time it was fun with a bit of silly banter included with the more serious crossfire related questions. Then a few of the users from the UK & across the pond responded to posts not in a constructive way but in a rude, personal and negative manner. I also recall posts having to be removed totally due to there content. This in my view certainly contributed to the demise in the numbers using this forum.
Lets hope we see more new and existing crossfire owners using this forum in 2014

But a separate forum? - really? - what's wrong with this one?
We have our own section if we choose to use it but can also benefit from access to the wider Crossfire community - and can take part if we wish. I have mostly found it very useful - and entertaining.
Unpleasantness can happen on any forum - who's to say the discontents and grumblers won't stick in their negative oar on a new UK-only forum?
Arrogance, intolerance and bullying only succeed given an audience - so if it happens, just ignore them - they'll soon get bored and go away - plus hopefully get stamped on by the moderators...
Perhaps this forum would get more attention from UK owners if UKCrossfires did more to promote it as a viable platform for discussion, rather than dwell on past negative experiences - which is the impression I get when I've suggested this previously!
I'm also on UKCruisers forum and, great though it is, to some extent I miss the contact with the US that one gets here.
But - there are bigger differences between UK and US PTs than with Crossfires, so they perhaps have less in common - plus UKCruisers is a bigger club than UKCrossfires so can support its own forum more easily.
Let's try making better use of what we already have before possibly over-complicating things - and maybe making lots more unnecessary work for someone!
I welcome the 'upgrading' of UKCrossfires and wish Steve & co all the best with it - and will very happily pay my sub. - even if I can only attend one or two events a year - mainly because of geography and pressure of other commitments.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with this forum but the plain fact is for whatever reason very few uk owners use it...like you say if the link to this forum from ukcrossfires was made more prominent maybe that would work....or maybe uk owners are just not interested in forums and prefer social media as a certain facebook page seems to get lots of hits....
...
Yes there's nothing wrong with this forum and its a pity its not used by many UK owners. Its true that the link could be more prominent and I can get that looked at. I do believe that many of the owners are just not forum types. In our group many of them enjoy the social side more rather than being car enthusiasts (or petrol heads) like us. Like wise, they are not very interested in Face Book, and are satisfied with the news letters and meets. It interesting to note that when we sent out the last news letter, 159 people out of about 430 had read it within a few hours of it being sent.
Cheers Steve
The UK Crossfires Club will go live on the date of the first meet of 2014, 16th March. Membership forms will become available on the day, and at all future meets. There will also be an option available in the coming weeks for folks to complete and submit membership applications and pay fees through the website too. The cost of membership will be £20.00 for a 12 month period. I am just topping and tailing the full membership details before they appear on the form and in the website. . Details of membership benefits coming shortly, I'm just awaiting some confirmations. This has taken longer than expected to sort, and I have come to understand that the clubs who have lots of goodies in the new members pack simply charge for these in their fees. As fees can be a sore point, I prefer to keep things very sensible and straightforward, and keep fees as low as possible. Watch your inbox for further info, but I will keep you posted here as well as thing's accelerate towards the launch date.
